listen, this is just stupid. i'm surprised this topic has flared up to full blown fire. i will tone down the my extreme defense of the YIN....while it is quite obvious that brewer's strong stand was to strong to be matched by my two adversaries.

The link below is the actual 2006 anual Cle Elum report, as mentioned with the 2006 smolt plants, in the 1st post. This is cutting edge $hit.

http://www.usbr.gov/pn/programs/ucao_misc/fishpassage/activities/CleElum-2006report.pdf

I stand corrected in my thinking that these smolts would be clipped. The report say's these Coho are uniquely tagged with Passive Integrated Transponder (PIT) tags. These fish will be tracked through PIT tag detectors that will installed at the Cle Elum, Prosser, McNary, And Bonne Dams.

The scope of the feasibility study is currently limited to the study of passage features at Cle
Elum and Bumping Lake dams. Successful implementation of fish passage at Cle Elum and
Bumping Lake dams could eventually lead to future detailed study of the other three dams
(Kachess, Keechelus, and Tieton).

Who knows what the future holds for re storing runs...but it's encouraging to know somethings being done.

Yep I agree. Too much important information being discussed here, to have the in your face antics going on...

Way to take the High road Brewer.

You've sounded like you have ALREADY been putting down some crown today. foul (((( wink ))))

Hey check out the photo's at the bottom of that link. just think Someday that flume could be replaced by a fish ladder. Now multiply that by 5 Dams and we could have 100,000 returning Sockeye, alone.

Just think of all the arse grabs, flossing and other possibilities.... cool

MF,

Thanks for the link. It looks like these are just test numbers of smolts to assess fish passage feasibility at two of the five dams. Not something to get hung up on this point, whether the smolts represent the preferred brood source for reintroduction. This has been a test - beeeep.

I think this thread should not be locked...it's too entertaining watching MF and Brewer virtually stroking each other off for their "big stand"...

Again...for the third time...it has nothing to do with the YIN...if the Russians, or the Vulcans, or the state of Florida was doing it, it would still be a stupid idea.

Note: Just above your last keyboard vomitus up there, Brewer, I pointed out where the YIN was doing it correctly...by not putting out of basin stocks up in the headwaters of a river with ESA listed steelhead in it, but instead putting them in the lower river.

It takes a "special" kind of guy to find this to be a bash on the YIN...I guess we found one or two.

Fish on...

What is almost as bad is the inbreds that go up and snag the fish in the fall, right during the time when I am trying to do some technical dry fly fishing in the low flows.

Salmon fisherman are the worst of the worst, and if we could keep them all down on Blue Creek or Barrier Dam or the Skok we would be doing the resource a favor.

At least then we'd only need to call in one airstrike, and since most of them are related we dramatically decrease both the genetic propensity for further activities detrimental to the resource but also take a whack at the learned behavior side at the same time.

These sorts of practical, bipartisan solutions are what are mising in America today.

Perhaps CCA will form a position on this important issue.............

This is a great read, to funny, I don't fish there so I don't care, no but really guys, are these fish really going to make it and how good are they going to be, and how much research was done to see what the effects would be on the system and the other fish there? well since it is Indian [censored] , probably none.

Peace

Fly,

They're not studying the effects of the fish on anything. They're studying the effectiveness of a prototype juvenile fish passage device. If it works well enough, they'll have to study the begeeberze out of the effects of any stock of fish planted there.

fly and others seem to be concerned about "other fish" and "existing stocks" i know pastor todd seems to be wriled up about the exsisting stocks. as far as i can tell the reintroduction of salmon and the impact to the native squawfish, bass, and catfish would be minimal. am trully failing to understand why todd has a concern about these native garbage fish. these fish seem to hold up very with salmon. all brewer can think is, pastor todd is a true new breed of tree hugger of bark humper. cause not even the tree huggers that live in oragon don't give a swollen rats @ss about the swauwfish and thier BPA bounty....
