My dad left behind a bunch of fly rods, some of which are bamboo. Im looking for someone who can appraise the market value of the rods and hopefully find a forum or dealer to sell them
I would appreciate suggestions.
Thanks.

whatever you do, make sure you get several different opinons. Most likely they are not worth much, but if they are not the cheap imports from over seas in the post WWII era and have the original wraps, they could be worth quite a bit.

I have some identification and valuation books on cane rods, if you post some pics (close ups of wraps and ferrules), I could probably ID them.

SD, is right determining what you have and the condition is most important. The bay is great place to determine the liquidation value. While cane can command a high price you might have along wait to get top dollar unless you have something highly desirable. If they are not "collectors" piece you might consider keeping them to fish, i use cane for trout and love the experience.

A friend of mine, since passed away, used to take any bamboo rod he could find and rebuild/refinish them. Might be able to find somebody who would be interested in doing that to an "average" rod.

I've done abot 20 cane rods that way, just a straight restore job.
Most of the rods Idid became wallhangers for lodges, restaraunts, and so forth.
Time consuming but fun stuff to do.
