Hi all have a Suzuki 90 hp Jet and at the start of the year i went out and I could no longer get up on a plane. The motor starts and seem's to run grate firing on all cylinders. The gate is opening all the way at the pump and seems to be set right. Put a new sleave in the bottom and reshimed the impeller still cant get on plane. The boat get's right to the point but dosent go there never had this problem befor kids wanted to go crabing this weekend but hard to do just pushing water not to bring up the price of gas. Sure hope someone can help. Thank's Lostboy

How do you know the gate is opening all the way? The reason I say this is because unless you look at it while you're trying to get on plane you won't know. It can look like it's opening correctly when there's no load on it, but with pressure on it, it may not fully open.

Any chance your carrying around a few hundred extra pounds of water logged flotation foam?

Well when I put it in foward gear the gate drop's all the way open and I cant even budge it with my hand to where it block's the jet, cable is tight dont know how it could move. Stored under cover so everything seem's dry lol had it out fishing in the rain for day's on end with four people in it and know prob dont get it ? any body know about the sharping of the impeller dont know if that would make that big of diff. Thanks Lostboy

Since it seems the gate is OK, you need to back to how it's running, the pump won't change from working well to not working by sitting around, but the motor can. PM sent.

Check the key pin, between the impeller and drive shaft. :two cents:
I believe the tension at the spacers will hold enough to provide some thrust. It sounds to me like the motor is coming up to rpms, just the power isn't being transfered.
