Sorry to say those down south won't be digging any of these in the near future, and even when you can ... it'll be hard to get a mess of 'em like this. Five gallon buket to the top for a limit of 60 ... now, who am I gonna cook these for this winter??

Bob: I'm sure I know exactly where you were. If so the digging there was awful two years ago. Looks like it rebounded nicly.

This was a new spot for me ...

A fella gave me a hint on this one and said he's been digging it for several years now so it's probably not the one you were thinking about, unfortunately, whatever went wrong in that other area has not gone away.

You think limits of 60 razors...

every diggable day....

all summer long....

might have ANYTHING to do with that?

Moderation... what a concept!

They did briefly lower the limit to 45 a number of years ago, but locals cried foul, and it went right back up to 60.

Overall, this is certainly the case. I'm still scratching my head over that one with the influx of new diggers over the years. It's hard to find those bucket-filling limits any longer frown

Should have kept it at 45 ... doesn't matter to me for my personal stash, I dig what I'll use in a winter and if I need to go another morning or two ... no biggie, but it should help keep overall harvest and the sad wastage issues that we too often see.

Having said that ... there is something seriously wrong at Clam Gulch (so, no it wasn't there;) ). It's been that way for several years now ... the Kasilof beaches are the same way, populations have plummetted and virtually no one digs Kasilof anyhow since the growth rate is slo slow on that end and even when present in big numbers, they tended to be small.

Maybe all that driving by the commercial boys on the beds in the recent years of heavy EO's has something to do with it???? Conspiracy theory? Sure, but awfully strange it all came about at the same time.

There should be no motorized vehicles on the lower section of the beach w/o a disabled permit! Oh, now I'm venting smile

Maybe one last round tomorrow ... see how the clients do before I dig up mine!

Some beaches on the other side are supposed to be loaded, and there is NO daily limit on them. Most people head to the Polly Creek area ... never done a plane trip over, but one of these days I will to take care of the winter stash in one day smile

Oh yeah, just got them back from our cleaning gal today ... she was only able to do 20 clams per gallon bag ... so three gallons off of that stash. Took some guests to the same beach yesterday ... bucket wasn't quite as full with the limit as the first day as I spent lots of time handholding smile but whipped out a quick limit late and have about another 2.5 gallons it appears.

Looks like some serious clam fry's this winter!!
