We were basically popping a fish or two a morning. What Ryley just described.

Pt. Williams = Lincoln Park
Hooked a big king off the beach there last year on the bug rod. He schooled me and my 6 wt crazy

D3,

Gotta' agree there if one is constantly landing fish and re-rigging and deploying gear, that's pretty entertaining. But even the best day trolling or any kind of fishing I have ever done includes more time spent not catching fish than is spent catching them. That's why I like to have the "not catching" time being almost as much fun as the catching time.

The notion of fishing Area 9 or 10 is really interesting to this south sounder because we get a ton of kings returning to Nisqually and Deschutes, but by the time they get to the popular terminal areas here, most of them have lockjaw. I find it frustrating to drop a jig in front of 100 or 200 fish before one of them will hit. Fishing for salmon that are still hungry and eating herring just has to be more rewarding.

Let me know if you want to give it a shot with the fly rod up here. if you take a day and target them, you should be able to hook a couple.
