The story:
Fished until dark. Fishing sucked. Get ready to run home and the main died. I knew right away and said "[censored] we are out of gas". Dudes looked at me and said "are you shitting me?".
I call everyone I know who lives near Bainbridge. Voice mail city.
I put out two anchors. Neither held. I call Vessel Assist. We come aground on a rocky beach at Port Madison. Me and a bud jump out and work the boat over to a sandy beach. We stayed in the water so the boat wouldn't get scratched up on the beach for an hour.
$250 later I get home at 2 am.
SolDuc fished with me for the first time last night. Probably the last time. He was not to hip on the whole thing but had a good attitude about it.
I have never run out of gas in any vehicle before.....not my car or motorcycle or anything but my [censored] lawnmower.
If we had been blackmouth fishing in the winter the whole deal would have sucked much worse.
Hey Sol I'm drawing a blank on the white sox story...

Alcohol related amnesia, no doubt. Does this photo refresh your memory?

I won't even mention the "Bummer about the hair" comment you levied when I made the cover of S&SJ. smile

What a f'n crazy night this was..left Shilshoe at 4:30 and returned at 1:30. We came pretty damn close to some rocks in front of a water front home but some how missed them by inches. Dave was wading in the water holding the boat from grounding to deep on the beach for a good hour with a steady 10 mph wind from the north. Vessel Assist came along and pulled us out away's and gave us 5 gallons of gas @ 50.00 gallon.

The rest of the story cannot be told on here....lol

Thanks Dave....I guess ?

BYOG.

Sol needs some black wingtips to pull off those socks. Otherwise, full of fail!

Now I know what to charge the next time someone runs out of gas at Sekiu and I come to their rescue.

The person who invents an accurate fuel gauge for a boat will become a wealthy man. I've never owned a boat where the gauge read right. Didn't matter if I'm sitting level in the water, on the trailer, or moving. They all suck.

Glad to hear it didn't turn out too bad. [censored] happens!

You said that right. I went with a fuel flow meter on my boat. Heck with the guage reading a float in a boat fuel cell. She has an alarm that goes off at 15gl.

The best gas gauge is a sight gauge. If you see gas in the tank, you have gas, if you dont see any gas, you dont have any gas.

Pretty simple!

Glad you guys made it out of this situation without any damage to the craft or worse.

I can almost see Dave's eye twitching from here.

Few more jabs Ryley and I think we can get him to snap!
