Great video Keith.

Put me on the list for a shirt, Gilly! thumbs

Pretty slow on the water today for Matt and crew. Hit our first fish before the rod was put in the rod holder on the first rod out. Took all of 3.4 seconds to hook up. Thinking this was going to be THE Day.

Blind (yes, as in can't see) Dr. Bob got his 80+ year old ass handed to him by a spunky 8 poundish, quota-killing, kinger! The fish thought it was at least 20 pounds and drew blood as Dr. Bob cut up his finger while fighting the fish. Gilly and I were prepared, and had a plan to disconnect the battery cables to use as a temporary defibulator in case the old man had a heart attack! Fortunately, he survived, but the fish did not. One for us.

Here's a shot of Dr. Bob and his quota-killing kinger!

This shot of Dr. Bob and Gilly cracks me up. Look at the hands of Dr. Bob. By looking at that photo, you'd think this old man couldn't see, or something! I have no clue as to what that left hand is doing..... rofl

Next up was my Old Man who was forced to C&R a nice little kinger nate.

Took a while, but somewhere amongst the million shakers and flounders, we added a small clipped silver to the box.

Kinda slow day catching, but a great day fishing. Got the old men in to some fish, especially a spunky blind 80+ year old doctor. He was a riot.

A very fun day out with Gill fishing! He runs a top-notch operation and I would highly recommend him to anyone wanting to fish, or learn how to properly fish the Sound.

Any time you need a deckhand Matt, feel free to holler! I had a blast.

thumbs

Good luck out there tomorrow Neal, Matt, and new-crew! Hope you find a few more willing biters!

hit possesion again today, a morning trip with a crew change early. Have some relatives visiting from Dallas and so I headed out with three of them at o'dark thirty and fished the east side after dropping some crab pots. A little bumby out there for these land lubbers but the youngest managed to lose a fish. Some how "keep the rod tip up and reel" translated into texan as "drop the rod tip to the water and stare at the reel"... Oh well checked the crab pots on the way to Muck to swap out the first 3 for the second 3. On the second crew out we fished the west side just after the tide change. took only about 30 minutes to hook into an very nice king. The instructions to this Texas vistor seem to translate just fine, nice hook set, tip up, let the fish run when he wants, etc... Just as I see the flasher on the top and the back of a nice fish, CHOMP! dang seal grabs him and the fight is on! Chase the fish and seal down and play tug of war for a bit. I thought we were getting the upper hand until the leader finally broke. The worst part was the little turd followed us around for the next 45 minutes despite my best use of the english language to discourage him. Didn't get another bump the rest of the day, but did manage a few crab so the Texans hit the dock happy.

I need to apologize to the guy that was following me while we were playing tug o war with the seal. The shouts and comments were not aimed at you, but at the fury thief with my dinner in his choppers. Hope you saw and realized that the dirty SOB and other choice things said were not directed at you, those in your boat or other relatives of yours who may or may not have been mentioned....

Nice to see some folks getting fish!!!!

My struggles continue. Fished hard today from 8:00 to 2:30'ish with only one take down???? Only four fish at Shilshole?????

At least I'm getting comfortable in my new/old 16ft boat and am learning just how far I can go without running out of gas grin

On that note I need to send a shout out to all my friends whose boats I've salmon'd fished off of in years past. King salmon have always been easy for me. Just show up at the dock with a 12 pack and some gas money, work the downriggers and punch limits of fish!!! Whole different ballgame actually preparing/running/cleaning (repeat daily) your own boat. I didn't realize how much work went into having everything in top working order and ready for a day on the water! Says a lot for those here who are finding consistent success!!! Well done and Thanks!

p.s. Anybody got an open seat laugh ???

Been extremely slow for me that past week, but my grampa and I hooked a hatchery slab on Tues evening. Weighed in at 37 lbs when we got home. I am attempting to post a pic, but may need some guidance on how to. Got a 22 pounder the next morning. Both caught in A10.

How do I post a pic? Need help.

I wish I could tell you it was all skill, but we didn't have a bump for 4-5 hrs, so I think it was simply dumb luck where our plug passed in front of his traveling nose. Somehow my gramps brings a certain mojo to the boat with his Norwegian blood.

Absolutely nothing is the fish's belly. Heading to the river already???
