Who is looking forward to watching the Olympics? I'm not really all that jazzed about them. I will probally watch a little here and there but not going out of my way to watch any one event. Yawn........

Not me. F the OlyMpics, King5's Beijing weather reports, and anything to do with tilapia. The only good thing about the games this year is the USA softball pitcher.

Now I just googled her up and man does she have bad taste in Bikinis. She can do better than that.

It's just a bad day.

The hoser networks usually have more interesting and broader coverage as they will show events that may have a top athlete from another country than Canada. The US coverage has just shown events the US is dominate in. Too much talking. I really do not care to hear the life story of some obscure dude from Midfinger S. Dakota. Just show the frickin' events.

I'll watch periodicaly and keep track of the medal count. They never show any of the shooting events. The shooting events are the only thing I can relate too and possibly compete in. Hell I get tired just watching the other events.

I watched the last hour of the opening ceremony and it was pretty good. I think this year just about every event will be broadcast on the net so you can watch the shooting j7.
I think the figure I heard was 9000 hours of programing from NBC....mostly on the net.
I'll watch a little bit but not much.
I do however love watching some of the events in the winter olympics.

Well duhhh.....NS

What country are you guys from?

You dont want to see your own country kick ass????

I think its worse to hear about some obscure person from middletoe BFE.

The best event this year will be the mens 100m. All three of the top runners have broken the world record in the last year. Two Jamacans and Tyson Gay from the US.

The same people that only want to see U.S. win medals are the same people that are "fans" of whichever Sports team won last years championship...

Like Bulls fans back in the 90's that had never been within 1000 miles of Chicago... Former Yankees fans that are now Sox fans... Red Wings Fans...

Lets stay on track Irie and not change the subject. No one is puting your fanhood in check. If you want to see Dowchybag McTambohad from Crapkillastan sweep the gold in the 100m pants around the ankle race then check it out on the net. Just like me if I want to watch the shooting events (see also Seastike reply)

Yeah I know.
Being in the minority is something I'm proud of...seeings how the majority of Americans still believe in Ghosts, Angels, and a devil that has goat hooves, horns, a pointy tail, that walks around possessing people; and that dinosaur fossils are nothing more than fakes planted by secular humanists to undermine family values and advance the gay agenda through public education.

Holy blistering butt Fu<k. Did anyone see the 100 m. That was rediculous. Now I have always been one to give the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the athletes, but there is no way in hell that guy Ussain Bolt is not on something. The way he broke the world record, with his hands at his side and pounding his chest, he ran across the finish line sideways. Are you kidding me.

I was a runner myself, that is why it is so hard to believe. I know that I was never at the level of or even close for that matter. But I did it all natural. And I do remember that the only guys that I lost to like that, were guys on something. Hopefully he is straight and that it is legitimate. But I am going to remain a skeptic on this one. It was a damn good night of entertainment though for sure. I wish I had a pic of my face when I watched Ussain blow the field apart. With his hands at his side.

You could tell the TV commentator was a little peeved that Usain went into celebration mode prior to the finish line. Move over TO. lol

Was listening on the radio the other morning, and they were talking about how Phelps eats 19,000 calories a day, then went on to list all the food.

Breakfest.. 3 fried egg sandwiches, a 5 egg omlet, 3 pieces of french toast, three chocolate chip pan cakes and some huge amount of energy drink.. A whole pile of stuff for lunch and dinner including 2 pounds of pasta.. it went on and on.

The other radio guy says " hell, I think they should give his colon a gold medal "..

Everytime I hear about Phelps and his diet the number just gets bigger. First number I heard was 5,000. Second was 6,000. Now its 16,000 calories. I don't know about that one. Distance runners, marathon and the likes barely eat that much on the days before races. Whatever the number is it is impressive I am sure. I eat about 3,000 a day. In rum and cokes! elite

A Tour de France pro cyclist consumes and burns about 8,000 calories a day while racing. Phelps is a bigger guy and works out about the same number of hours per day, so it's believable that he consumes even more calories, but 19,000 is a stretch.

Anybody see Alicia Sacramone get royally screwed? I am not a big gymnastics buff. But I think I can safely say that when one athlete doesn't fall and the other one does, shouldn't the one that didn't win? Talk about homefield advantage. I wonder if cheaters get any satisfaction?

It was cool to see the little Johnson girl win gold for her routine on the beam. She is so good.

On the flip side, another American gymnast got screwed out of the gold for his clearly superior execution of the most difficult routine on the high bar. The judges gave gold to the very good, but not as good as the American kid, Chinese gymnast. I don't get what's up with the obvious bias in judging. The Chinese have lot of really good athletes who can and are bringing home the gold honestly. They don't need judges on the take. That crap demeans the Olympics. Friggin' politics.

I personally hate any event that is "judged".

Judging is and always will be biased in the Olympic games. The "home team" is always favored.

Events that require a judge, are all but worthless, IMO. I don't even bother watching them.

Yeah, they are called table tennis players and bad minton players. What a joke. Just more evidence of our pussy assed liberal society.
Ohhhh, whats that? You can't run fast? You can't throw far? You can't, You can't jump either? Or wrestle? Well here pussy, put down your remote for the playstation and try this. It's called ping pong. Yeah, you can get a gold medal for it in the "we let everyone play even though it is nothing like what it was intended for Olympics."

The Olympics were made for the best individuals, emphasis on individual, to compete against each other in physical feats to determine what ONE athlete was the best at everything. Not this we'll let what you are good at be an event so you have a chance. We gotta stop polluting the Olympics with this garbage. They already have a place for people that can't do all the stuff the Olympics were intended for. We all know what that is.

So laughing - nice rant. The US does not control the Olympics but, hey, but don't let facts addle your mind if they aren't in line with your rant.
You sound like John Belushi mindless tirades on the old SNL.
I love it when you girls get your panties in a knot over something that is not even true.

Never said the U.S. controlled the Olympics, merely a reference to what a lot of the world seems to act like. We are talking about a commitee that represents the worlds countries letting this garbage they call sports in on the Olympiad.

Judging events sucks, but I still enjoy some events that are judged. Gymnasts are some of the finest athletes in my estimation, but unfortunately there's no objective measure for success and superiority.

Saw Ussain Bolt break the world record for men's 200 m last night. That was friggin' incredible. So sad that the one American (who would have had Silver) and I forget the other guy (would have had Bronze) who stepped on their respective inside white line lane marks. That's no-no from the earliest age in track and automatic DQ. They must have been soooo high on adrenaline to make that mistake.

Some events, new and old don't grab my attention. However I'd never know about or appreciate a lot of things if I weren't exposed to them via the Olympics. For example, I had no idea there was such a sport as BMX bike racing. Not like real bikes, but little kid BMX bikes. I'm astonished at the speeds they achieve, and the jumps have a real wow factor that traditional bike racing or sprint racing will never have. I'm not gonna' run out and add a BMX to my stable of bikes (imagine that at my age), but I can sit back and enjoy those who do race them. And then there's something about badmitton and synchronized swimming that I'll never appreciate. At least the latter includes chicks in skimpy swimsuits, so it can't be all bad.

The same kids who, back when I was a kid had awesome BMX bikes and made fun of my dorky 10 speed are the guys that still ride those kid's BMX bikes & have the same 80's haircuts today as adults. Only now I get to laugh as I drive by in my truck that cost as much and the trailer they rent.

An adult on a BMX bike screams "child molester with a meth problem."
