Pawlenty only because I don't think he has been exposed to the voting public at large, unlike the other two. Romney is an also ran and Lieberman is an independent.

I'm going with Kay Bailey Hutchison...to try and snap up some of Hillary's "I'm only voting for a woman!" supporters.

Romney will bring in the women voters with his looks, and will help because his sucess in business. I would think it would have to be a pro lifer though.

Mitt would also help in securing Michigan too, he must attract a lot of libs in order to govern Mass.

Buckle up this is going to get crazy!!

I think Mccain needs to quit using the POW card, I was listening to him talk the other day and he brings this up when it was not even germain to the topic. We all know that he is a war hero, but enough already.

Much more effective when other people bring this up, rather than himself.

When is the last time a VP candidate helped bring a state his father was Governor of 40 years ago into the fold for a party ? grin

Mass, going red because of romney, I doubt it.

Romney belongs to a 'cult' as far as 35% or more of the Republican Party is concerned, so that may cut turnout, albeit primarily in states where McCain is already sporting good leads.

I never said he was going to help Mccain win Mass, I said the state of Mich.

Last I heard BO had a 5 point lead in Mich? Retract, BO has a 2 point lead as of 8-25-08 ( Rasmusens )

Who cares? The lead in Michigan is evaporating and this is before Romney (if Mccain chooses him) is even announced. This is a state that has a 9% unemployment rate I believe.

I doubt Condi, she has said no, but I suppose it's possible.

Why would a state with 9% unemployment vote for a guy who wants to continue the policies that are in part responsible for that rate ?

Did you know the national unemployment rate is lower than in the Clinton years? Did you happen to see the GDP report today? 3.3 % are we in a recession?....betcha BO [censored] his pants when he saw that # today.

I doubt it, Obama is the first African American to win a major party nomination for President, and giving a speech in front of 76 000 people .

I am betting he gets a little tonight.................and isn't reading the (unadjusted) GDP rate today.
What is it, 11 of the last 12 quarters the post report revisions ( almost always made after all data is collected) have been downward revisions ?

I am surprisingly in agreement with Todd on Hutchison. That selection might sway enough women voters to even cross party lines. She has won Texas Senatorial races with wide margins but has a little bit of a problem with the old Dem inspired indictment over using Senate staff and computers during a campaign.

However, my gut feeling is the election is going to hinge on the Rust Belt states and Pawlenty would be a good choice there. His margin of victory in the last election was pretty slim though and his wife has made some pretty bizarre statements that don't sit well with a lot of pro-choice women. It would help McCain with the evangelical vote and that is fairly crucial for a Republican.

Just like the last election, whoever can pile up the most crap against their opponent will be the winner. I am however revising my last prediction of an Obama victory to a win for McCain. There's too much crap on Obama for him to win outright. It will be McCain by more than you think.

Pawlenty made a huge run up in the political prediction markets today, and romney dropped 32 points.

Pawlenty also cancelled his appearances for Friday.................while Lieberman is still on vacation, and so........................... smile

Hutchinson would be a good choice for McCain't, but....................not all women in the country are as shallow and superficial as Republican women are, so I don't think she'll help all that much.

The Republican women I have been associated with are a far cry from "shallow and superficial". I would characterize them more as educated and accomplished. Doctors,Lawyers,R.N.'s, Business Executive type people. I know one who stopped her pediatric gastroenterologist practice to raise her family at home. Of course her husband is an orthopedic surgeon so that helps out. Another ortho surgeon I know is married to a plastic surgeon who quit her practice to raise their kids.

The Democratic women I have met tend to be those that padded their resumes with Women's Studies degrees and are just looking for "an honest man" to help out with the bills and be "my best friend", wash the BMW, mow the lawn and take her kids to the park on Superbowl Sunday.

I'd like to share an amusing tale of a "typical" S.F. liberal woman that I had the pleasure to x-ray. I go to her exam room and she is in her gray sweatshirt, jeans,Birkenstocks and to top this all off she has the requisite KQED Panda canvas bag. I take her to my x-ray room that is covered with fishing related art and photos, pewter Salmon hanging from the ceiling, Loomis,Owner,Trout Unlimited,CCA,etc. stickers on the observation window. Just a plethora of items my house has no room for. The conversation went like this:

"Do you Fish?"

"I do!"

"Are you the type of fisherman that uses the plastic hooks and lets the fish go?"

"Actually I'm the type of fisherman that uses the steel hooks and eats them."

"HUMPH!!!"

The conversation went somewhat downhill from there.

I'm reasonably certain she's pissed about 1) Obama beating Hillary 2) Obama not naming Hillary as VP and 3) me not releasing all of my fish.

I'm also reasonably certain she hopes McCain picks someone like Adolf Eichmann as his VP.

I'd say the Dems have a few states in mind to try and win some crossover votes...at tonight's show they trotted out a handful of delegates from around the country to talk about why the were there...all were ex-Republicans who voted for Bush, twice, but aren't going to vote for McCain.

They were from Ohio, Florida, Michigan and New Mexico.

I think it's pretty clear where they think they can nab some electoral votes.

Plastic hooks?

Am I that far outside the loop? Do they even make those?

There are a lot of Republicans* who don't like it that we fish, especially around here...most of them are part of Big Energy, or their subsidiaries (eg., the aluminum industry)...and the building industry, too. They want to save all the allowable ESA kill for their businesses, not for our "recreation"...

That's one of the major problems I face at the ballot box; I'm a nature loving conservative. Quite the paradox.
Around here the biggest problem we face is the water grabbers and those that want to set up gravel mines on the rivers.

I feel for you...the first time I saw a "Sportsmen for Bush!" bumper sticker I almost swerved and ran their Plymouth Reliant off the road with my one ton.

Sportsmen for Bush? Really? What kind of sport? What good is having an assault rifle if all there is to shoot at is concrete?

I think "Athletic Intellectuals for Rosie O'Donnell" actually makes more sense.

She was born in Idaho and moved to Alaska as an infant. Her husband is an Eskimo.
I am sure she will be pro drilling in ANWR. I wonder where she stands on the Pebbel mine issue.

She's ultra-conservative...any of the women that vote for her were already going to vote for McCain anyway, so I don't think she has the crossover pull that Hutchison would have had...

They're already calling her a "maverick", too...but she's more of a "I think I'll just call myself a maverick" than an actual maverick, just like McSame...against pro-choice, member of the NRA, fundamentalist Christian, loves Big Oil*, etc., etc.,...

*She earned her "maverick" title by going up against Big Oil on one thing, once.

I was thinking that McCain would be aiming at Hillary voters, but I think he went completely the other way and is appealling to the RWWJ base by selecting one of them as his running mate.

He did add the "If you want to vote for an historic event, now you can do it by voting for me, too"...I don't know how much that is worth.

She might want to start with corruption in her own portfolio...she's the first VP nominate to be under an active investigation for corruption and ethical violations.

McSame took a big risk on that point by tapping her for VP...I suspect, though, that this will only help her chances with her own investigation...Alaska would, of course, love to have someone in the White House.

"Firing people who don't tow the line" is not necessarily a good thing, depending on what that line is...firing people who don't cotton to her petty personal squabbles is about as corrupt as it gets.

LB, I used to think you were the reincarnation of this toolish figure known as eastsidedrifter, but then there were times when you started sounding smarter than him...but honestly, that wasn't exactly a high bar to surpass.

Lately, however, your incessant petty whining coupled with weird perspectives and a fundamental misunderstanding of some very basic tenets of a myriad of subjects makes me think that you might be someone else.

You're not really Rory, are you?

She's under investigation for abuse of power back home........... rofl

Now I think McCain't is just trying to fill Dick Cheney's shoes.......... thumbs

About 4 months ago, there was a story going around the internet that was pretty out there, even for the internet, and we all know what sort of stuff goes on the 'tubes these days. I even read where Barak Obama was the anti-christ, although to be honest it was in an E-Mail with a link......... wink
Seems like...............let me find it.................here it is.

Cover-up? Alaska Gov. Palin (R) announced she was pregnant. Local rumors
suggest she is covering up for her 16 y/o daughter. (self.politics)

submitted 4 months ago by jibegod to politics

newcontroversialtopold

On March 5th, 2008 Alaska's Republican Governor, Sarah Palin, announced
to the media that she was 7 months pregnant with her 5th child. She is
currently 44.

The controversy arises from two sources: First, Palin does not appear
preganant in any recent photographs. The announcement came as quite a
shock to people who had worked closely with her, and have been quoted as
saying that she did not appear pregnant whatsoever during the prior 7
months. While this is debatable, you can judge for yourself here:
http://gov.state.ak.us/photos.php

Second, Palin's daughter Bristol is 16 and attends an Anchorage high
school. Students who have attended class with her report that she has
been out of school for months, claiming a prolonged case of mono.

Apparently, this rumor has made the rounds in the upper echelon of the
Alaska legislature, and is a closely guarded secret. As far as I know,
this rumor has not been discussed by any media outlets, in Alaska or
otherwise.

Almost as good as a Birth Certificate Story, eh boyz.............. rofl

Be patient with me, I am trying to fit in arouns here........... grin

Why would you possibly think that?

Gotta love the internet and all of the trash it provides.

The risk of Down syndrome increases if the mother is over 35 and the father is over 40; usually it is a combination of both an older mother and an older father.

A 16 year old giving birth to a Down syndrome baby is an extremely rare occurance.

What if the 16 year old's boyfriend just turned 72 a few days ago? That's a combined age of 88...and that's a lot of years.

I mean...I'm just asking...hypotheically smile

Had a neighbor with Down syndrome, I really grew to like him. He was very interested in auto repair, showing up when the hood was open, to give me advice.
