Pawlenty made a huge run up in the political prediction markets today, and romney dropped 32 points. Pawlenty also cancelled his appearances for Friday.................while Lieberman is still on vacation, and so........................... Hutchinson would be a good choice for McCain't, but....................not all women in the country are as shallow and superficial as Republican women are, so I don't think she'll help all that much.

I never said he was going to help Mccain win Mass, I said the state of Mich.
So I ask again.................... When is the last time a VP candidate helped bring a state his father was Governor of 40 years ago into the fold for a party ? Your right , it holds no water. I heard it on the TV as well. Engler couldnt deliver and he was a popular gov, at least for a while.

The Republican women I have been associated with are a far cry from "shallow and superficial". I would characterize them more as educated and accomplished. Doctors,Lawyers,R.N.'s, Business Executive type people. I know one who stopped her pediatric gastroenterologist practice to raise her family at home. Of course her husband is an orthopedic surgeon so that helps out. Another ortho surgeon I know is married to a plastic surgeon who quit her practice to raise their kids.
The Democratic women I have met tend to be those that padded their resumes with Women's Studies degrees and are just looking for "an honest man" to help out with the bills and be "my best friend", wash the BMW, mow the lawn and take her kids to the park on Superbowl Sunday.
I'd like to share an amusing tale of a "typical" S.F. liberal woman that I had the pleasure to x-ray. I go to her exam room and she is in her gray sweatshirt, jeans,Birkenstocks and to top this all off she has the requisite KQED Panda canvas bag. I take her to my x-ray room that is covered with fishing related art and photos, pewter Salmon hanging from the ceiling, Loomis,Owner,Trout Unlimited,CCA,etc. stickers on the observation window. Just a plethora of items my house has no room for. The conversation went like this:
"Do you Fish?"
"I do!"
"Are you the type of fisherman that uses the plastic hooks and lets the fish go?"
"Actually I'm the type of fisherman that uses the steel hooks and eats them."
"HUMPH!!!"
The conversation went somewhat downhill from there.
I'm reasonably certain she's pissed about 1) Obama beating Hillary 2) Obama not naming Hillary as VP and 3) me not releasing all of my fish.
I'm also reasonably certain she hopes McCain picks someone like Adolf Eichmann as his VP.

That's one of the major problems I face at the ballot box; I'm a nature loving conservative. Quite the paradox. Around here the biggest problem we face is the water grabbers and those that want to set up gravel mines on the rivers.

My guess is Leiberman.
The choices would be far left, or middle right.

McCain just announced Palin as VP. Will comment later after I have had a chance to absorb this stunner. So far I think it is a positive for him.

I had heard her name mentioned a few times as an outside chance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_PalinShe was born in Idaho and moved to Alaska as an infant. Her husband is an Eskimo. I am sure she will be pro drilling in ANWR. I wonder where she stands on the Pebbel mine issue.

She's ultra-conservative...any of the women that vote for her were already going to vote for McCain anyway, so I don't think she has the crossover pull that Hutchison would have had...
They're already calling her a "maverick", too...but she's more of a "I think I'll just call myself a maverick" than an actual maverick, just like McSame...against pro-choice, member of the NRA, fundamentalist Christian, loves Big Oil*, etc., etc.,...
*She earned her "maverick" title by going up against Big Oil on one thing, once.
I was thinking that McCain would be aiming at Hillary voters, but I think he went completely the other way and is appealling to the RWWJ base by selecting one of them as his running mate.
He did add the "If you want to vote for an historic event, now you can do it by voting for me, too"...I don't know how much that is worth.
Fish on...

Running against Murkowski and winning, taking on corruption in the state. Firing people who dont tow the line.

She might want to start with corruption in her own portfolio...she's the first VP nominate to be under an active investigation for corruption and ethical violations.
McSame took a big risk on that point by tapping her for VP...I suspect, though, that this will only help her chances with her own investigation...Alaska would, of course, love to have someone in the White House.
"Firing people who don't tow the line" is not necessarily a good thing, depending on what that line is...firing people who don't cotton to her petty personal squabbles is about as corrupt as it gets.
LB, I used to think you were the reincarnation of this toolish figure known as eastsidedrifter, but then there were times when you started sounding smarter than him...but honestly, that wasn't exactly a high bar to surpass.
Lately, however, your incessant petty whining coupled with weird perspectives and a fundamental misunderstanding of some very basic tenets of a myriad of subjects makes me think that you might be someone else.
You're not really Rory, are you?

She's under investigation for abuse of power back home........... Now I think McCain't is just trying to fill Dick Cheney's shoes.......... About 4 months ago, there was a story going around the internet that was pretty out there, even for the internet, and we all know what sort of stuff goes on the 'tubes these days. I even read where Barak Obama was the anti-christ, although to be honest it was in an E-Mail with a link......... Seems like...............let me find it.................here it is. Cover-up? Alaska Gov. Palin (R) announced she was pregnant. Local rumors suggest she is covering up for her 16 y/o daughter. (self.politics) submitted 4 months ago by jibegod to politics newcontroversialtopold On March 5th, 2008 Alaska's Republican Governor, Sarah Palin, announced to the media that she was 7 months pregnant with her 5th child. She is currently 44. The controversy arises from two sources: First, Palin does not appear preganant in any recent photographs. The announcement came as quite a shock to people who had worked closely with her, and have been quoted as saying that she did not appear pregnant whatsoever during the prior 7 months. While this is debatable, you can judge for yourself here: http://gov.state.ak.us/photos.php Second, Palin's daughter Bristol is 16 and attends an Anchorage high school. Students who have attended class with her report that she has been out of school for months, claiming a prolonged case of mono. Apparently, this rumor has made the rounds in the upper echelon of the Alaska legislature, and is a closely guarded secret. As far as I know, this rumor has not been discussed by any media outlets, in Alaska or otherwise. Almost as good as a Birth Certificate Story, eh boyz.............. Be patient with me, I am trying to fit in arouns here...........
