I hit the Kalama Rv last weekend. Here's a quick report.

I started at Rainbow Park and work my way downstream. Didn't see any fish. I met several anglers working their way upstream. They didn't see any fish either. I stopped by the trap just down from Modrow Bridge. There were hundreds of Chinook below the trap. The trap was not fishing so the Chinook were just milling around. I saw quite a few coho, some jack Chinook, and a few steelhead. The hatchery won't have any trouble meeting their escapement goals. The river level was slightly higher than normal and the temperature considerably lower than normal at 52F. The fish seem scattered throughout the river. If you go, be prepared to cover some water to find the fish.

now brewer feels pretty darn good. my brother and i did well enough. we brought to shore 10 chromer kings, 4 king jacks and one 9lb silver. lost a 2nd silver in a boulder garden. released 5 stale kings too. all on floated eggs or free drifting eggs. those kalama kings wallup eggs! the action was on the slow side we thought but we worked our holes thuroughly.

this is interesting, monday my brother pulls into the trap access area to see the fish. he noticed some guys down river by blue pumphouse. there was several game wordens who had just busted about 5 guys fishing the closed waters there. they must have been having a great time. cause the gamies cuffed and stuffed everyone one them! thats sooo cool that some of the snaggers are getting arrested rather than just ticketed, you know.

It's about time...the only reason we don't fish the Kalama in the fall....
Tweekers and Snaggers... Tweekers are bad enough during Springer time.
Plus the Snoho/Sky has enough Ho's for us... Thanks for the reports..
