Thanks for the report, but patience Grasshopper.............nearly all of the fish are still in saltwater. Just curious, were the rollers: coho or some of the small run of "even year" humpies?

I fished the Snohomish below then 522 bridge from before daybreak until 1 PM . Saw one small coho caught and three other fish roll. Fish are NOT up river that's for sure. More water than last year at this time. Saw a guy and him family in a glass twin hull out board float down the thin water side of the Island. Couldn't believe he made it thru there. Usually don't see things like unless there are humpies in the river.

I trolled plugs below Snohomish yesterday from daybreak to 1Pm. Saw maybe a dozen rollers and no fish caught.

Some years they are there by Sept 1st, and some they aren't. Still too early, but you have to go fishin' to find out!

Fished below the 522 bridge from 6:00 to about 3:00 pulled plugs, one boat had 3 waiting for there 4th, lost about a 10-12 pounder at the boat, saw another boat with about a 12-14, saw a few lost on dick nites, and as we were headed to the launch saw one other boat loose one, not hot by any means but there were fish to be had if you put in your time, saw that same boat go down the shallow side after hearing that famous metal on rocks sound, couple hrs later he came by us at a slow pace i'm sure he will be replaceing a prop befor his next outing,

I banked it for and hour and saw about 10 fish roll. They were definately on the move though, as the pods came in they were moving upstream fast.

I've heard stories of some monster ESA achinooks being caught around this time of year in the snohomish system. I have yet to hook one while coho fishing, but I'm looking forward to. I'ts gotta be a pleasant surprise to hook into one of those on coho gear.

I have seen a couple landed by the snaggers in the 40lb+ range over the years. I have only landed 2 in the 20lb range, but was almost spooled by one when my hook eventually bent out while fishing for Pinks.

Yeah we actually tied into and released three Chinook on the opener. 10, 12 and a 20+. the 20 hit a plug on a 2500 size spinning reel and almost spooled us in a matter of seconds. I have seen some 30-40lb gator nook surface in years past, but never hooked one that size. That would be fun.

Fished today in various spots from Thomas Eddy to below Snohomish. No takers, but there was a decent size push of coho hanging out around high rock. Still early, gonna give it a rest for a week or two.

Sue and I floated from Lewis St. to Douglas bar 9AM-2PM (we over slept) anyway, humpys, kings and ho's were seen either rollin' or jumpin'. Not alot of fish but there are fish. Had a good slam on a kwikie, the same on some eggs, but the only one that stuck was a 7-8lb Ho on a diver w/ a 50/50 dick nite so now is the time to run to the tackle store a clear out the dicks before that other guy buys them ALL...See ya on the salt tomorrow for the Bite of Edmonds Ho Down...

p.s. sorry no pics it went down too fast

How are you fishing your diver with the dick nite? I'm still learning how to fish with my drift boat.

I fished the Snohomish yesterday with YB Guy from 522 down to Snohomish. Not a lot of rollers/jumpers. Most of the fishing pressure(over a dozen boats) was at 522, but never saw a net out. We hit our usual hot spots all the way down the river, but nothing until YB hit a small buck on a plug on our last drift. I was using dick nites most of the day.

River is low and pretty clear. Plus we saw three seals. Still early, need rain.

We run a little heavier leader (10-12lb as opposed to 8lb if we're casting) about 5' back then either anchor in a known travel corridor or back it down the hole as if it were a plug . The nice thing about on the diver is being able to tell people who think you only FLOSS fish w/ a dick nite to %@*: off ...

How is the river level? Could I make it up in a 14ft with a prop?

Damn! You're good, Rog! It's takes a damn good fisherman to floss a coho with a Dick Nite and a diver.

....cuz all fish hooked on a Dick Nite are flossed!!!!
