I always splice a 5-9 foot piece of 8-12Lb mono(I use clear Yozuri)onto my PP with like a nail knot. This way I don't have bobber stops on my braid. It is also stealthier especially in clearer water not to have your braid under the surface of the water. I Only use West Coast slip bobbers. They come in many sizes and they are very durable. I think I have had the same one on my pole now for a couple years.

"Pole" and "bobber". Almost as bad as teacher Shelly Schnarfenfudge's fingernails on the chalkboard. laugh

wntrun: Yeah, it bothers me to, but many just repeat what they hear from friends or relatives.

For those of you who call a float a bobber and rod a pole please note that a pole is a long piece of bamboo used for catching crappie. A bobber is either a dead guy in the water, the winner of the apple bobbing contest or a red and white plastic thing often used by children fishing poles. laugh

"Bobber down", sounds a heck of a lot better, than "float down"....just my 2 cents worth!!!!!

Was nice to be able to say "bobber down", twice today!!!!!

Okay i've said this once before....

Get a small pack of dental floss and tie it on your main line for a stop. Works great for me and slides thru the guides when casting.

They also look great on women too wink

If I am not mistaken, the method started in Canada and the Great Lakes area beathead . Call it what you will, but it is a float.

when float fishing i always carry a bar of wax an wax the first 20 ,30 feet of braid so it is easy to mend .

I tie a piece of line in a uniknot above the float. Trim the ends & it casts through the guides, slides up & down, when it wears out tie on a new one. no need to disassemble anything, no need to pre tie any nail knots, any piece of line laying on the river bank will work, little down time. Works.

Get Speyed....looks Ok for a quick change to float from drift fishing. A possible (likely) disadvantage might be that the mainline is held underwater, which would make difficult mending. beer
