Salmon season more upbeat as season end draws near
A cold spring had fish arriving late and at first had the industry concerned, but as the majority of Alaska salmon runs conclude their 2008 runs, the harvest is healthy overall, save a disappointing run of pinks.

The 2008 forecast was for 133 million salmon of all species statewide. As of Aug. 29, a preliminary harvest report from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game put the harvest at 134,256 salmon netted statewide. That Continued@URL...
