Anybody been seeing many grouse so far this year? I have not heard many good reports and although i dont usually hunt them, I will likely give it a shot on the friday before chukar opens up on Blewett Pass.

Over here on the east side I have seen a bunch (all ruffed). I went out a couple of days after the opener and they were still grouped up. I got two ruffed and missed a bunch of opportunities. I would start in the lower elevations this year. The high snow from last winter pushed them down low and that is where they started breeding. In the high ground, check the usual spots where there is a spring next to some gravel and youll find some blues. Hopes this helps

We hunted elk last week in the nachez area and they were everywhere. We started stoning them......not in the pipe way, get your mind out of the gutter. We got two with rocks as we did not bring a gun and did not want to waste a broadhead. Saw probably 15 over three days. Mostly singles.

I am seeing grouse in the East Grays Harbor area. I have a bunch of them on my property although it's not really a good spot to be shooting at them.

They seem to be quite active right now.
