Not sure who will set the price of the paper, but I do agree on the IR amendment. I would like to add my own amendment that would punish any media types who get any financial reporting incorrect and thereby induce panic in the general populace be drawn and quartered, then shot. Not necessarily in that order

As far as credit being locked up, in the past two weeks I've put out $5,000,000 in new money on the streets. This has been in the form of credit lines, construction loans, Commercial buidling refinances, a few consumer portfolio mortgages for my high profile clients, and such.

Most of the banking system, especially community banks, is alive and well. The media PHUCKS are the ones instilling panic over a few issues that are workable. Yes, there are a few financial institution in trouble, but we are still open for business.

Turn off your TV folks. The media is once again not your friend.

How about you send it in 'gold'.................

I don't trust paper money anymore.................or banks for that matter.

It's all been a huge conspiracy right from the start, I can see it now.

Bilderbergers, Rothchilds, the Queen of England...................you're probably involved also.

It all dates back to the Knights Templar, and the secret rituals of the Masons.

You're a Mason, aren't ya Dogfish.................... grin

All they needed to do was zero out the capital gains tax and let private investors take over the paper. I can see it now....the Govt actually does recoup the money but decides, just like with the SS Trust Fund, they have better social programs to spend it on that will have more far reaching benefits and rewards for Americans. BS!

Maybe we'll just spend the profit on another expensive and stupid war.

Anyone up for bombing North Korea? Iran?

Fish on...

Wow, how awesome, Hankster. Nothing like saying you want to kill 65 million people in a public forum.

When I said I'd like to wrap my hands around the necks of the scum that voted for the bailout bill and squeeze the life out of them I was just getting warmed up.

There are pieces of crap in every profession, but there are some good folks out there too. I'm sure there is one good reporter out there, somewhere, maybe.

I've been pretty good to a number of folks here, making things happen behind the scenes. Hope you have fun saving up to buy your house with cash! wink I never solicit business, it just shows up by word of mouth.

I wonder what would happen if we stopped allowing people to get off the hook from the promissary notes they sign along with the deed of trust. There really is no reason the government couldn't make it impossible to get out of the debt. They could make it so that it is not due immediately, but must be paid back at little or no interest over a period of years. No release with bankruptcy. It may be a bad idea to keep people locked into debt they will never be able to pay back, but at the same time there is no reason to release it if they can. As it is, very few banks try to get deficiency judgements because most people will respond by filing bankruptcy. I guarantee that if it were to take place, along with a program to lower interest rates for a set period of years (and maybe even principle) for people in trouble, we would see a huge reduction in foreclosures and defaults as people try harder to hold onto their houses. Lower foreclosure rates means less inventory, which may result in prices stablizing. With lower interest rates in place, there may even be less turnover as people stay put. If this were to happen, the market would correct itself. It wouldn't be an immediate correction, but could really help over time.
