Notice them still warm rolls on the back counter Driftin' ... went pretty good with some jam and some pineapple cake to boot

I figured the biggun was right about 25 ... a healthy girthed fish ... fairly typical of the bigger bucks there, many fully resemble chinook in their body structure.

Back to work finally ... chasin' some of these "little" coast silvers today

I watched Gilly fish through a run with methodical precision with his spey rod and sink tip. He was "in there" deep. Nuthin'. He wades back to the top and makes three cast with a spoon and, BAM....fish on. His exclamation was about taking steelhead on the fly was priceless....."What an inferior method"......lol

I'm guessing a little bird didn't swoop in and hand Gilly a fly.

Sol, if it's only about the catch, then it doesn't matter what you use. Right?

No bluejay fly's this trip, but in one hole stam and I had a little hawk the size of a robin chase our gear on each cast. Funny little bugger.

Its was a likely a Merlin, they are a fast pocket-sized raptor. Mine like to hang around the feeders & harvest the slower house finches....
