Looking at the escapement report through last week, I see only 6 coho have made it to the hatchery. That either means there are a lot of fish in the river waiting to go up , or there are almost no coho in the river. Kings are closed even though they have met the egg take they wanted. You can always call one of the stores for a report or call the hatchery as most of those guys fish. Then you need to go try it out and if you got a good report but caught or saw few or no fish , you can discount who ever gave you the good report as full of crap/lying. Good Luck

Not too be combative, but I have had a great report in the past from a buddy that fish were damn near jumping in his boat the fishing was so hot and sure enough I go down do the float he recommended and used the bait he suggested and tore some serious lips. Next day same conditions same ball park same bat same ball, no fish, nada. Now I don't consider him to be full odf crap or a lyer. I consider it just fishing. I do understand the spectrum you are referencing of people making false reports which sucks. Though I do believe their are a few variables to consider. Say the water is low vis well you wouldn't see steelies holding where you usually would. I could go on but I hope I have kind of made my point. Tight lines, Jack

What I suggested has worked for me in the past. I have gotten more bogus reports from the stores on the Kalama and 2 places on the Cowlitz than anywhere. Anymore I just go and make my own report.

hell, don't i remember seeing that you live on the satsop? that's probably about as good of a bet as anywhere else, which, this season, seems kind of hit and miss.

Went to the Toutle today to look at the water. Just like casting into a glass of Swiss Miss cocoa. That was up by Kidd Valley.
