His old Iron Duke (chev 4 cyl) flew apart. Block is trashed as well as the head. Sucked a valve, punched out a piston and cracked the block.

You STILL have that? My youngest (27) is weighing his options....your proposal may be a viable solution. I suspect not, however. I don't think he is fond of the idea of converting to outboards. I did suggest the possibility, but was met with silent rejection.

I'll be damned. He found a complete motor that has been stored inside for $100. Considering a head gasket alone is $50, I'd say he did quite well. We'll find out for sure this weekend if it was a good buy or not, but the price was certainly hard to beat.

Maybe i can talk him into a kicker, rt, so he won't need to be towed in next time. How much did you want for yours?
