Well I made it back to the property to do the last week of buck season. Once again I was hunting in extreme northwestern California near the Klamath River. The last three seasons have been tough on deer hunting. On Thursday I had been in camp for 4 days and had not seen a legal buck. I kept at it and got up Thursday morning early. God took pity on me, and I came across some deer. I first saw a decent forked horn, and a doe. I was getting ready to shoot the forked horn, when I saw movement by his feet. This bad boy was bedded down, and quickly stood up. I was lucky enough to make a good shot, and he only ran a short distance. I drug him back to the quad, and he was so big I couldnt get him on the rack. I had to come along him into a tree to get him on the quad. I rode back to camp one happy camper.

4x4
19 inch wide
14 inch tall
2 inch eye guards
180lbs with the guts
102 lbs skinned, gutted, no legs or head

Heres a shot with him finally on the quad. Just for size my quad is a 400

Heres a shot back at camp with me and the big boy

Needless to say I am one happy guy. He has been dropped off at the taxidermist, and I can't wait. I went with the semi sneak, and turned to the left. You can't really see it in this pics, but he had two unique tips to the forks on his left side.

Thanks for the nice comments. I am still in shock. Sal, not the Alps. It was on Green Diamond timber lands off of Bald Hills Rd, and west of Weitchpec.

That is a sweet deer. I've never seen a blacktail that big.
You had a great season getting the bear and then the deer.
Awesome country in NW CA.
