There is no likely scenario that doesn't move America solidly left next Tuesday. Even if McCain can pull it out, he is very much left of Bush, and he will undoubtedly have at least six more Democrat senators and 40 plus new Democrat house members to work with.
What this all will mean to our country is anybody's guess. I know those on the far right think we will lose our guns, become communists, require mandatory abortions and take all the wealth from anyone who has a job and give it all to unemployed crack dealers. The far left thinks the new regime will bring us all a nirvana where the minimum wage is $25.00 per hour, union membership is universal, health care is fully covered for all and free K through PhD education will be available to all.
I have seen enough changes in administrations to know that neither side has a clear view of what will happen, but there is no doubt it will be left of the current regime. And roughly 75% of us believe no matter who is elected; it will be a huge improvement from the current bozo. These are indeed interesting times.
Truth be told I hate to see either party have the presidency and a large majority in house and senate. I think we are much better off with the parties keeping each other in check. If Obama wins and get the predicted big majorities he must perform. He will have absolutly no excuses.
Hmmm. Dave, you and a certain other outdooor writer BM think a lot alike. I have heard him say almost the same things. Is it something in the ink you guys breathe?
I know after the last administration most said anything would be an improvement over Slick Willie. So is it downhill again? I can hardly wait. If things go as predicted the right can sit back and take potshots. Won't that be fun? Interesting to say the least!
The only thing I said that is even slightly arguable is that Bush was an awful president. And the vast majority of Americans agree with that. The other comment simply points out the obvious and most likly election scenario, according to every poll I have seen. Even McCain and Bible Spice agree that there will be a major shift to the left, and its a fact that McCain is nowhere near as far right as Bush. Hence the unarguable fact is that we will soon shift to the left.
I don't know the BM you refer to but he must be capable of seeing the obvioius. Good for him.
The only comment you make that I can agree with is that the election of liberals will give the Limbaugh's lots to rail against. I suspect they secretly love to see Dems in power. It's hard to rant about your own party, but you may recall that Limbaugh was vehemently against McCain, unrtil he was for him.
My point was not to rub it in or gloat. (Note I did not predict an Obama win!) I was simply thinking about the changes to come, and trying to point out that no matter how vehemently we are for or against whomever takes office it won't be the end of the world either way, no mater how fast the oppositin tries to spin things.
P.S. I never smell ink. My work is all transmitted by emial. It must have been that damn liberal college I attended. CWU - cow college in Ellensburg. Might have been the loco weed?
