Melamine is used to boost nitrogen levels in food products so that when they are measured in testing laboratories they believe that the protien levels are higher than they really are.

So...its only legitimate use is for fraud ?

No, you can use it to make a tougher pressboard (particle board/MDF) by combining it with formaldihyde, making a resin. Those white cabinets sold at Home Depot, the cheap ones, use melamine.

Good stuff when used the right way, as with any tool, substance, etc. Bad when misused.

OK, I viewed the video....and checked a couple of other links....not good stuff when it isn't used right for sure. The topper is that China pulled it......and we didn't...how cool is that?
