I have a mossberg 835 ultra mag and the trigger assembly sometimes tends to work its self loose while hunting. meaning when you pump the gun to reload it will pop the trigger assembly loose and jam the gun. has anyone ever had this issue with the mossbergs or am i just the lucky one?

That should not happen. Sounds like you are missing one of the pins that holds the assembly in place. Look on the side of the reciever, there should be two holes for pins that hold the trigger assembly in place. Those holes should be occupied by pins.

Been hunting with those rattle traps for many years, and never had that happen. While they might rattle a bit, they always go boom for me.

I think j7 is right. I had an Ithaca auto that did the same thing, and it turned out one of those pins had dropped out. The first time it happened I was in a duck blind with lots of birds flying, so I whittled a pin for it out of a nearby alder twig. It held up until I could find a replacement pin. Probably not the smartest thing I could have done, but there were too many birds around to go home!

it looks like all the pins are there. i almost think that the trigger assembly is worn on the front part and is causing it to not hold itself in place.

If the pins are in, it should not move at all. The pins go through the trigger assembly. Perhaps the front hole is broken on the assembly. You can purchase the entire trigger assembly for it (cheap). I cant help much more without seeing it.

Most Mossbergs have aluminum alloy receivers attached to the steel barrels. At least my 500 did. It's possible a 3" Magnum shell may have sheared a pin on recoil giving it the appearance of being in place while at the same time it's disconnected. Aluminum is a schitty metal to make guns out of if you ask me.

Yea, Irie could be correct. It could be a broken pin. Take a philips screw driver and push the front pin through and reveal the answer.
