So my service engine light came on about three weeks ago. I went to auto zone where they have a code reader, and it said the o2 sensors were bad. I just got done changing those out. Now it runs like shiat!!! When I give it gas it boggs down for a little bit , then it starts picking up power. Am I missing somthing here. Maybe a bad egr valve, clogged fuel filter, mass air flow sensor? Please help?? Any input is appreciated.

It could very well be that the computer needs to be reset.Modern computers adjust as the paramiters change as your car ages. They store these paramiters from start up to start up.I did a quick google on how to reset and all I come up with is that you need a scanner. If you have a repair manual it should give you details on how to reset and often procedures for warm up and driving after reset to help the computer reset values.

The oxy sensor is the biggest tool the computer has to adjust fuel spark to keep the car running at its best as things wear.

I would disconnect the battery for at least ten minutes first.Start it up let it warm to opperating temp and take it for a smooth drive for fifteen minutes.no hot rodding just normal driving. My ford stumbled at first then cleared up as the computer gathered data and adjusted.I am just not sure if the ten minute disconnect will clear the computer on a Chevy.

Could be that it's a Chevy and designed to self-destruct at 50k miles.

If you're trying reset the adaptive learn by disconnecting the power turn the lights on to drain the capacitors. It should run like crap when you first start it and smooth out within minutes.

Just a warning..While googling 2001 Tahoe computer reset I found a site with a video showing how to reset the computer.Turns out the video is actually malware a helper-security program.Installs a shield on your tool bar alerting you to security problem.easy to get rid of but just for your info....

The adaptive learn is exactly what I am refering to ...thanks

My suburban did that to me once and it turned out to be $hit gas. Next tank it ran great again.

I think you know what I drive just add more dog hair, fishguts and a little elk blood. And yes you can fit an elk in the back of one.

Oh yeah I do not drive a ford it was just an easy way of reffering to one I fixed with a similiar problems.

Would a 1995 tahoe have this 'adaptive learn" technology?

First mistake was taking it to Autozone and having a retail clerk try to read the codes.

Just buy one of the code readers, I bought mine for about $80 and it has saved me hundreds.

I will second the lack of confidence in autozone.Stuck in Tacoma with a bad CV axle.Took them three tries before they finally gave me my money back to start over.I had been replacing those axles on my river rats for a lot of years.I got stuck with a die in the wool dyke that didn't even know the software she was using at the counter let alone what I was really looking for.The whole conversation started with my car did not have one of those and she was willing to argue with me.I was holding the core in my hand.Funny stuff now.

I know with ford there are ways to read trouble codes using the trouble lights on the dash.Jumper the diag mollex and watch the trouble lights blink.count the blinks and apply to trouble code chart.Pain in the ars to say the least but a life saver maybe in the back 40.

Any luck?

Check your mass air sensor. Sometimes a code reader will show bad 02 sensor when mass air sensor is dirty.
