Just picked one up from Ted's, Anyone fished these rods yet? I picked up the 4 piece 8 weight 9'6. I have fished a 9 foot for years and this 9'6 really gets out there casting in the back yard. This is my first sage rod I have ever owned and would like to hear some of your imput on the FLI series Rods. Putting it to the test on Monday!

Ted's is having a sale on these rods right now because they are discontinued.

I haven't casted a FL rod. But, congratulations on your Sage. They are a good rod, well made, and their customer service is good. I have 4 sage fly rods in my quiver. The 9 1/2 foot is a great single hand steel head rod.

All I can say is if the rod feels good to you, it's probably the right rod for you.

Congrats, hope you enjoy it. I've only fished the RPLs and Z-Axis, both are fast action. For the RPL that translated into lots of frustration until I could get the crisp timing down needed to cast more than 20'.

I have a 9' 5wt Fli and 9'6" 8 wt and like them both. Definitely fast action, although I haven't casted the likes of the XP or Z-Axis for fast action comparison. I also have a 9'6" 8wt VT2 and the Fli is noticeably faster; doesn't have that rod tip wobble at the end of stroke as the VT2 does. The faster action is also seems to be quite an advantage when casting sink tips and heavy flies.
