I've had a few folks ask about our Ryan, and he is steadily recovering. He goes to PT a few times a week, and then we do it at home every day. He is walking well and tries to run, but his coordination isn't all there just yet. I bet in a week and he'll be there.
He had a bout of pain a week and a half ago and spent a day in the wheelchair for part of the day, and he still has some numbness every now and then. Compare it to when your leg or arm falls asleep, that is what he experiences. That pins and needles part. He also has some pain in the mornings. Some are worse than others, but for the most part a tylenol and a neurontin when he wakes up gets him ready to take on the day.
We are slowly weaning him off of the Neurontin, just to see where his body really is in recuperation, but he may have to take that for an extended period of time until he has fully recovered.
Our goofy boy is almost back to being himself, and his sense of humor has returned. I would think he'll be completely recuperated by the time we go to SE AK this summer.
Thanks for checking.
Andy
P.S. I regularly check on DK, the boy who was run over in his kayak on American Lake. He gets fitted for a new skull piece in a few weeks, but he is still in a coma. Please think about DK as well.
