There's also 3 or 4 different models of Loomis 9' GL3 casting rods.

Outdoor Emporium or Three Rivers should have 'em all.

Same as the Loomis, its a 8-12 lb.rod. It whould good for steel, coho & the other smaller salmon. Allstars some guys love em others not.....

Bought it as a back-up rod 2 years ago & never fished it yet

I got a 1082 if your looking for one. I've caught everything on this type of rod except a monster king.

It's the best rod, EVER!!!!

thumbs

The two rods I would absolutely NEVER EVER recommend to anyone would by the IMX 1025c or the Sage 290.

Biggest POS rods EVER.

Other rods I'd add to the POS List would be the Sage 196, 296, IMX 1084c and the XST 1085c.

Only a moron would own or use any of those rods over the 1143. Ever.

Yup - that soft spot is right where the 1143 normally breaks.

No zing. Too easy. Thanks for the big old slow pitch!

Was fun to hit it out of the park, though.

That would make sense, as I've only heard reports of that rod breaking by quite a few members of this board.

Can't say that I've ever busted an 1143.

i have witnessed a few people on this board break them.....i let them know there is this little thing called "drag" that can be loosened when you are running 30lb power pro on a rod rated for 8-12lb line...

Oh no. Why would you do that?

I say not only do you let 'em crank their drags way down, but tell them to hold the rod about a foot above the top cork. Make sure they really pull back hard with the hand that is firmly grasping the rod blank.

I always figured the 1143 made for a better 3 piece rod than anything else.

rofl

Matter of fact, our very own midwest boys even published a photo of HOW to properly fish with an 1143s.

1025c is an awsome rod you just don't catch big enough fish to need that kinda back bone.
