Quinault Ridge bull tag for me! Only took 8 years.

Skookumchuck youth hunt "any deer" tag for my 10 year old, Ryan!

Hunter got blanked, but I think he's done pretty well so far.

You guys are killing me.... but I'll get over it and be happy for you in an hour or two.

Between my partner, my two boys and myself, all we drew were more points for next year (and we all put in separate).

I really thought we'd draw something, given the amount of points we have built up for various animals.

Andy, just let me know if you need help packing that bull out. You have to admit the drag of your last elk wasn't all that bad........ :-)

P.S. Once upon a time I was FisherDan on this board, but have been too lazy to log-in for a while.

I was 0 fer 5 on permits, but I did draw multi-season tags for both deer and elk. Should be a fun season.

I got the Goose Prairie A rifle elk tag. Gonna have to do some scouting. I have only bow hunted this area and this will be the first time rifle hunting it.

Congrats..
I know someone who has been putting in for more than 20 years and never drawn. I also know two people who have been drawn 3 times.

You taking the whole ten days and holding out or are you going to be limited on time?

I have my muzzleloader season at the same time for deer, so I'll be splitting my efforts. Already in contact with a number of landowners who control access to a good portion of the area (clients of mine), and the elk don't show up until August.

I figure a few days east of the mountains hunting mule deer, then scout a few days before the hunt opens to verify that the patterns of the animals hasn't changed. Of course there will be regular scouting trips up there before that week. If I use my ML, I could shoot an elk and a deer the same day in the same unit October 1-4.

It is close enough that I can just drive up there after getting off work early the following week and hunt the last three or four hours of the day. It is only an hour drive.

Sounds like a good twofer season...three if you have a bear tag.

Yes, the elk don't get hot in the valley until late August. Remember that the boundaries have changed. In the past you could hunt the whole GMU, now it is just the Elk Area.

The elk patterns won't change much, but the river sure could.
It is now over on the South Shore side again and it can rise in a hurry with the monsoons up there.

Good luck.
