Well, even in paradise you can fail to slay them. Our first day we faced a full gale and 17 foot swells. We still managed a chinook, a limit of halibut and a couple of coho. We quit at 11:00 as the combination of rain, wind big seas and slow fishing made us think we should make a retreat. The next day we had 21 foot seas, but we found some shelter and ground out a couple of kings, a few silvers and a limit of halibut. Day three we had relatively calm water - eight foot swells. We headed to the secret honey hole that had been wide open a few days before but the fish appeared to have moved. We still took one chinook 11 silvers as chum and an amazing eight pound pink, plus a limit of halibut and two ling cod. Here are a few pix. P.S. Robbo is still a great guy to spend a day or two fishing with. My partner and I are already booked for next year. We may need two more . . . P.P.S. Today a 50 plus and two 40 plus chinook were landed.

Glad you had a good time. How do ya handle all the screamin and yellin that he does? I got REAL tired of him yellin at me, "reel, that was a fish".

Robbo is so cool he usually laughs when someone screwed up. Funniest moment was when my buddy put his rod in the holder to go take a piss. Before he had taken two steps Robbo grabbed the rod, reeled like crazy and set the hook. He said he saw my buddy was getting a bite before he put the rod in the holder. We did have one guy who missed at least five fish because of his twitchiness. Rob just smiled and gently reminded him it might be good to wait more than a millionth of a second from the first nibble to set the hook like a tuna fisherman on commission.

Dave,
I was up there in July of last year and we ran into the same weather. I was fishing with King Fisher resort and his 31' boat did well in rough water. I wish I knew how to post the picture of the monster ling I caught. They have a very small slot limit for the lings.

Charr Send me your picture and I will post it for you.
Stamley: I second your emotion on Kim. He is a 100% stand up guy , tough as whale leather and super nice. I fished with him last year and can tell you he makes a great partner for Robbo - two big, tough, nice guys who love to fish and are pretty damn good at it.

Kim comes through with a big one! Nice fish....next year I'm bailin' on Robbo and jumping in Kims boat. You recognize your old boss there Big Stick? Kim is the Marlboro man incarnate, ran cutting crews all up and down the coast and now is Mr. Cool of the LC charter fleet... pure strain good guy and I've heard he's great to have in your corner when things get..... sporty. Welcome home Dave. Yes, I would want Kim on my side of things!

Kim always did beautiful work and I've more fingers on my hands, than guys I can say that about...despite being around 100's of them.
I remember gutting draws and flinging Red Cedar as punching for the Old Growth Fir I was jacking up the draws. Now the Cedar is worth more than the Fir and I'd of never thunk that. Port Orford Cedar was always held in regard, but Red Cedar was just brush and at the bottom of the relative pecking order.
Coast Cutters are the cream of the crop and by a huge margin.
