Heading up at the end of the month to spend a few days fishing. After the bigwigs from my bank head back home on 8-3, I plan to pick up my boys and head out to some of the islands off of P.O.W. and whack a deer or three.

Last year the buck to doe ratio was 1:25 or so, based on what I saw, and I started hunting on August 1st for 4 days. Has the survival rate been pretty good last year, or can I expect more of the same?

We found a few over the last few days. The deer were in their "orange" summer coats, making them stick out like a sore thumb. Over three days I was able to help three boys get their deer, including two first deer. I'll post a few pics when a iget back from projects on the news house. LOTS of bears.

Nothing eats like an August Buck,under the assumption of the judicious use of a cool room or similar.

We put all the meat on ice as soon as I broke each animal down. I'd say they were in a cooler within an hour or two of the shot, at the most.

It'd be that time of year and in a pinch,the Saltwater Soak does wonders.
