Hard to beleive I met Parker the boat ho here about 10 years ago.... We've shared a zillion good memories together. Met and fished with quite a few others from this board, nothing but great people!

I remember the tone on the board before registration began in Mar. 99. Must have existed for about a year or so prior. Lot of juvenile smack and banter - no I mean the kind that makes the SRC smack thread seem mature and sophisticated. The board is really clean compared to Bob's initial foray into cyberspace and interwebz. He must be doing something right. He outlasted the only other fishing website of quality, and that was fly fishing centric. The Virtual Fly Shop was owned by Fly Fisherman magazine, but when the mag was bought by another published they made VFS use a format and software common to that publisher's family of magazines, and it went down the tube. I mention that one because it was international, and I met a lot of cool anglers around this country and from other countries. Salmon and steelhead are regional, and Bob's website has a lock on quality content, despite the numerous unintentional efforts to drag it down.

Thanks for starting this thread Tyee, and here's to the next ten years!

I think the site was first around in 96, mebbe 97...and besides being of a "slightly" different tone, I remember how much the software sucked back then, too...and I remember the day we had to sign up, and the quality went up quickly after that...

Fish on...

I used to be member #76 registered March of '99 but now the board shows me as member #41 as of August of '99. Did thirty five people leave since I apparently re-registered?

For ten years it has been a great destination. Hopefully i will be around for another ten- Thanks Bob!

Congrats to those in the 10 year club!

I'm just past 3 year mark, and this place has had nothing short of a *massive* impact on me personally... I've met amazing people, and in particular appreciate meeting all the people who are so different from me, but whom I thoroughly enjoy fishing, talking and drinking beer with.

Bob & the mods (past and present), you've all done me a huge favor, many many many thanks!

Wasn't around for the current board's inauguration 10 yrs ago, but 3 wks from today marks 6 yrs for me.

That's a lot of hammering at these keys, most of it after midnight.

Man, that could've bought a lot of quality shut-eye.

Yeah, I am with you, being one of those late nighter dudes. I am member 16 and my 10 yr. anniv. date was back in March. Lots of great reading between then and now.

Thanks Bob.

Fred, you'd have more friends if you didn't cork so many people in the launch line smile

I wish! There's a bunch that need more than a corkin' at the launch lines.

Something else, I sure meet some strange people at launch lines.

Yep, this is the best site out there. I guess I have Todd to thank for introducing me to it, I guess that could have been the late 90's. Lurked for awhile signed up with another moniker and didn't post for awhile and finally ended up with the current name. Nice to have so many informed people in one forum.

I totally agree.

Maybe it is because I am PNW born and raised so I can get a lot of the humor here but this place has had me laughing until I hurt.

I like to fly fish and unfortunately WFF is just weird and creepy most of the time and the fly fishing community is getting weirder and creepier by the minute.

Not here. Guys say it like it is and yet the flaming seems to be based on experience rather than some dude trying to pose as an internet fishing icon.

This place has some realness and soul.

Congrats to all you other 10 year trolls. Reading the posts brought back a bunch of memories. Thanks Bob, this site has brought me a lot of humor, and fun times. I remember the frozen line test. DIdn't VHAWK do that, he disappeared, and I wasn't in the loop on the details. I also remember my favorite poster NORDIC1, now that guys was the ultimate internet poster. He took pictures we had posted and posted them other sites as his own. I was sickly honored when I saw he used one of my pictures. Keep up the good work guys.

The thing I'm curious about it is. Does anybody remember the little Boston Whaler that had PISCATORIAL PURSUIT.COM plasterd on the side in big font. Must of been 98/99. Saw it at a gas station in Spokane. It's how I found this site. Did'nt register till a couple of years later.

At any rate congrats and Thanks.

I was around for the old board as well. Yeah, technology sure has come a long way since those days.

I signed up for the new board after losing track of PP for a year or so... so I'm about a year behind that first wave of members.

10+ years and I'm still hangin' around... and probably will for another 10 years.
