I sincerely doubt it...that would be extra lame, if true, since neither Joe nor I have ever even mentioned his name, much less his gear.

I would doubt it as well. I believe Rob is a member on here RB or something along those lines.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Better ask a Kwikfish expert...which I am not...the 5/0's are pretty big, but so are the plugs.

He can bring it on! Bonus, based on his posts I have a feeling he lives in my neck of the woods chain

Todd,

I fished a RVRFSHR spinner last steely season with good success (copper blade, brass body) I really like the way it was balanced and was heavier than most I have fished. Unfortunetly I recently lost it.....

salmon bake,

I have a slight problem with your completely changing up methods on me regarding the aforementioned spinner challenge... but as you wish.

Seeing as you buy spinners at the store you will undoubtedly be fishing a store bought variety of barbed round bend jig as well ? If you fish jigs for "broodstock", I get to fish jigs for "broodstock"... Except I will be tying mine on barbless Sickle hooks painted primer grey.

As I don't fish for "broodstock" (except on the Vedder in BC), it would seem only right then that use of the centre pin and long rod would be mandatory... for both of us. And in exchange for my lengthy haul to OR, you get to live up to the original challenge by motivating up to the OP or Skagit to pitch side by side hardware with me. (Of course your rod of choice would be acceptable here.)

Hell I might even be up to further changing the challenge to swinging primer grey flies or bottom banging invisible drift gear... Pipe smoke on G.

Dear Santa,

please get the elves to work on the barbless hooks for the good folks at rvrfshr. i am a forgetful SOB and hate wondering if i've smashed the barb down every time i see the game warden headed my way.

Aunty-

i don't mind pinching barbs so much, but on a drive by of the Klamath back in september, i knew i had a pinched barb on my rvrwhrlr, but the warden was running his finger over it and holding it up to the sun as if he really wanted to stick me with a ticket. not a feel good moment.

While i found Salmon_Bakes fishing political opinion already quite amusing, he has now dropped low, badmouthing a site sponsor and two cool dudes who make kick ass products and strive on customer service. There isn't to many companies these days, who have as good of customer service as these two.

I have never been one fond of Bluefoxes bell body design, and there heavily underweighted, which means adding extra weight to get them down in deeper pools for coho. Not to mention there silver plating on there blades is pretty bad, and doesn't reflect light underwater like real silver finishes.

The stock VMC Siwash and Treble hook that come with them are both beyond bad, and the best hook to land ratio i have ever had using those is around 50%. With Matzuo Sickle Siwash hooks (Rvrfshr) my hook to land ratio is closer to 75-80%, quite a big improvement i must say....

I went over to my cousins place this summer, and we fished the Columbia/Klickitat for URB's and Coho. Many of the coho we caught where pitching Rvrfshr hootchie spinners. We hooked 17 coho on day 1, bringing 14 to the boat. The second day we hooked 9 coho, bringing 8 of them to the boat. This isn't to shabby, especially when they are doing the death roll...
What i find oddly amusing about Salmon_bakes nonsense post, is that he says that Rvrfshr gear is overpriced.... If i remember correct, its pretty dam difficult to find a BF for under $3.25. Rvrfshr gear runs at around $2-2.50 per spinner.

Ask anyone who has fished with me how much Rvrfshr gear i own, and they will tell you i own allot. It's because they are affordable, great plating/finishes, the Matzuo Siwash is by far the best Siwash style hook, and there spinners are heavy, which means its easier to get down in deeper holes. Local tackle companies always before a big company...

As far as Salmon_bake being Rob from R&B lures: I highly doubt it, as i have talked to Rob many times over the phone. I also use his spinners/spoons notoriously throughout the season. He has never bad mouthed anyone, and is always striving to improve his gear.

Since I've only used RVRFSHR jig and fly hooks (that is, flies tied on jig hooks) this thread reminds me, aside from Salmonbake having possibly the lowest IQ ever posted on this forum, that I need to buy some sickle siwash hooks for my collection of kwikies that I've never used. I don't fish for salmon much, and when I do, I use herring (old habit dying hard), but I really might use the plugs some day and might as well have good hooks for the occasion. I like BF spinners for coho fishing, and still have a few from before I knew of RVRFSHR spinners. On the chance that I'll go salmon fishing next season, and reading the price comparison here, I might as well get a package of RVRFSHR spinnners, too. And no, I won't cast the damn things with a Spey rod. And I don't care if the hooks don't come barbless; I've been pinching barbs for 30 years. I'd probably just take the pliers to the barbless variety out of habit anyway.

Blades!!!!

You've been challenged!!!!!!

rofl

PS. For salmon_bake to even be considered in the same category as Blades, he would have to "Blade Up" right now and post a very recent dead wild steelhead that he bonked on a Sagit Trib!

No one, and I mean no one will EVER top Blades. Ever!

No way.

You'd have to kill TWO native steelhead on the Skagit and post a Grip-N-Grin with one in each hand!

I've noted that he's been online, and even reading this thread, a few times since he posted last...must have run out of smart things to say.
