Sign me up for an autographed copy! I'll keep it right next to RT and Vedder's autographed books! I've often wondered what nice young gal had to show her tits to Dave in order for that book to get signed..... Hmmmm......

Brewer, feel free to appropriate my avatar for the cover, or at least you can put it in the preface.

A few comments... 1. Sickle fly hooks are very much in my mind...but you'll have to dress 'em up yourself. 2. Rvrln...don't count on it. 3. Rvrwdrs...mebbe some day. 4. Rvrhat? Yeah, there will be some hats, soon...but they won't be cowboy hats, those are just for me...and they are especially suited to fishing...keep the sun and rain off my face, keep my sunglasses in the shade...what's not to like? The only thing they don't do well is stay on in a running boat, but how often am I on one of those? The formation of "Team CCA" will reduce my powerboat fishing by about 80%, so even less of a problem than it was before Fish on... Todd

Not much paperwork today...I was buried during the "good" fishing conditions, and now I'm pretty slack...with no rivers to fish.
Poor timing, to say the least.
Fish on...

You might be surprised to find that the price wouldn't be all that much...but it would be a bit cheaper. We've still got brass and black 3/8 spoons left, but not many...those are the best for stacking, and they're on the specials page, $12.50 for ten blanks, I believe...hard to beat that price!
Fish on...

Lets just say I found the Jed Davis book to be one of the worst books ever written on the subject. Any book that states that "Blue Fox spinners are too light and therefor are not a viable steelhead lure," is an idiot. Nuff said........
Realize that Jed co-founded Pen-Tac. I'm not sure that talking down the #1 competitor made him an idiot? Besides, in deep, fast, cold water (ie most winter steelhead water), his statement is true. The main flaw I find with the book is that he didn't fish much of the northwest before writing it. Most of his fishing experience was in the midwest, southern Willamette Valley, and central Oregon coast. The way fish respond to various spinners in other parts of the northwest is sometimes very different than what Jed wrote. The section on reading water for steelhead based on temperature is the best how-to-read-steelhead-water section I've read in any book. Regardless of how I fish, I still read water with "Jed's eyes". Also, Jed is a PHD psychologist. This book coined the term "threshhold of attraction", which is the best explaination I've ever heard for why fish bite some lures and not others. I've seen Herzog himself reference the term as revolutionary in the world of steelhead fishing. The book is a must-have for any serious hardware fisherman. I'd have ta throw down with Wild Chrome on this. I think Jed said that the Blue Fox is under-weighted if I recall...and I agree. Properly weighted spinners are more effective than under-weighted spinners. The BF does make a cute little "ting" when the blade hits the bell, though and it does catch fish. Look at a Blue Fox profile and then look at the Taco Bell logo.....very suspicious. And those Frenchies scorn us for our fast food culture ! Typical morning on the big D in August.... "Anyone been through the big run yet ? " Rocket Fuel Sniffer. "Nah, just a feather flicker and a taco man " Well Swung. "OK cool, let's go." Rocket Fuel Sniffer

I've seen Herzog himself reference the term as revolutionary in the world of steelhead fishing. If you have to talk down you #1 competitor to sell your product then yes you're an idiot. That and his book wasn't titled "Spinner fishing for winter run steelhead." Your right however that Blue Foxes aren't a great winter run lures for the reasons you stated. That's why there are Rvrwgglrs and Rvrwrls! If I needed a PHD to catch steelhead then I wouldn't catch very many steelhead (felt like I needed a PHD just to read the damn thing)! As for the "threshold of attraction" I aint buying it. Am I spooking some fish every day because I'm tossing silver spoons and 6" worms? Probably but do I care? Hell no! I'm fishing for big mean aggressive WILD steelhead that simply don't spook very easily! If I'm fishing for pssy turds well that's what eggs and shrimp are for! Having said that I do encourage everyone to read every book on steelhead that they can find. Amazing how many little nuggets can be hidden away that just may provide that "aha" moment which, of course, is different for ever angler.

The BF does make a cute little "ting" when the blade hits the bell, though and it does catch fish. The "ting-a-ling-a-ling/sploosh-stripstripstrip-ting-a-ling-a-ling/sploosh" of a hot airborne summerrun might very well be the coolest thing I've ever experianced as a steelheader and fortunately I've experianced it 100's of times thanks to Blue Fox spinners. But those same Blue Fox spinners DO NOT SEE THE WATER during the winter months! Which is one reason why I love Joe's spinner design so much because I now have a viable winter run spinner to fish with!
