Does anyone know of a meat processor in GH county that will grind deer meat into hamburger? Mike's in Elma did but he passed away.

I cut and wrap my own steaks but haven't shelled out for a good meat grinder yet, hence the need for someone who processes hamburger. I've heard there is an outfit near Kennedy Cr. but I'd like to try and find something a little closer.

Suggestions?

i used to take mine to the local grocery store and they would grind it just before cleaning up for the day. do not know if they still do or can do it.

Me.

Gonna buy a grinder here in the immediate future after using Ryan's. It is really easy. Once you have your deer down, bring the scraop over my way and we can knock it out in a few hours.

Saw 1 buck and 2 does today, plus a coyote. Butt is sore after putting in 15+ miles on the bike.

Thanks Andy. I'll make a note of that......have to drop one first! wink

It would be cool to see the process first hand so I know what I'm up against if/when I get my own grinder.

5 does this morning but not an antler in sight. I can't match your bike ride......I only walked 3 miles. I must be a pussy. laugh

You two or anybody else have ideas for trying to hunt in this cold, yet blue bird weather. I've been out three times since it reopened, all in Mason, but only jumped one in some thick big timber, but never saw it. Long range forcast seems like we'll be in this pattern for a while? Any ideas.

Anybody else been out for late ML in Mason? Seen anything?

Chris

Yup, I've been out there. You need to get away from everybody else. Anywhere you see another vehicle, keep going. Where I hunted Saturday and Sunday all I saw were two ladies on horseback, other than the small deer I ran into.

I'll be out there tomorrow afternoon. I concentrate on the am and evenings hours. Don't hunt the mid days at all.

The first set of gates we walked into down around Dewatto, we thought we were alone till several vehicles came by after we were several miles in. After we got back to the truck after dark we found all the gates locks missings. Any large Cedar's near a road were striped of branches to within 15 ft of the top. Left a message for enforcement, we'll see if anything gets re-locked. Any way the other two areas I have not seen anybody in either, thats why I love this late season. I'll be back out next week as well.

I hear ya.

Cold and dry is bad enough. What makes it worse is when it's still with no wind. You just can't cover ground and still hunt very effectively unless you luck into a grass-covered spur road that somewhat conceals your noise. Best bet is to set up in a known deer haunt and wait em' out if you have the patience. In this scenario, early and late as Dogfish eluded to.

That's why I prefer a nasty, $hitty day, I can hunt hard all day, concealed and have taken deer through out the day in different seasons.
