I came home to find my wife in tears. She's been watching the memorial at the Tacoma Dome. A very impressive scene with police officers from all over the country and a 1000 Canadian Mounties all in red. Check the local news. A clip was just on showing one of the 9 kids left thanking everyone to show up.
Very moving.

My wife and I have been watching with tears and a heavy heart.

I wish the community was this united all the time.....not just in grief.

Yes, almost too moving---thanks for what they do every day. For some sad reason I can't help but think most day's they get the feeling it's a thankless job. Not that it matters much but here's thanks to all of the officers out there.

No kidding about the thankless job part, but an essential one to a civilized nation. Thanks!

And to think most police officer retire without ever firing a shot OTJ, but the risk is ever present.

I was in the procession yesterday and then attended the service. I cannot tell you how touching it was to see all those people lined up in the cold to wave or hold up a sign expressing either grief or support for what we do.

At one point we were stopped for a brief time somewhere on S. Tacoma Way when a boy about eight and his mother approached my patrol car. The mother told me that he wanted to give one of us a flag to take to the service. The little boy then said "Tell them that I'm sorry."

I put the little flag on my radar mount. It will be there for a while.

Thanks to all of you on behalf of my brothers and sisters in law enforcement.

We got a teletype inviting us to meet up with a convoy of officers in Redding, Ca. Sounded like a fair amount of California officers responded. We sent several officers to the Oakland Officer memorial. Talked to a couple of them, and they had no words to explain it. We recently had 3 officers die of natural causes, that was tough. I hope to never have to go through what these guys are dealing with. My prayers go out to the slain officers and their families.
