KELSO, Wash. – Kelso, Wash., police say a man used his compound bow to interrupt an apparent break-in at a nearby vacant home, wounding a fleeing man in the buttocks.

Police say the Kelso man grabbed his hunting bow late Sunday night and chased a suspected prowler for more than three blocks. When the fleeing man refused to stop, the bowhunter shot him with a broadhead arrow.

A 32-year-old Longview man later sought treatment at St. John Medical Center for an arrow wound to the left buttock. Doctors removed the arrow tip and the man was listed in satisfactory condition Monday.

Kelso Police Capt. Vern Thompson says there were no immediate arrests and the investigation continues. He says charges against both men are possible

Best 'real life situation' training possible right there... forget that climb on your roof to practice angles from treestands, or putting on all your hunting garb to make sure your string clears your sleeves crap...

If you can chase a fuggin thief for 3 blocks, stop, knock, release, AND stick their worthless ass (anywhere!) as they continued to run, then you should get a free hunting license.

Nugent would be proud as hell!

I have to think the "shooter" is going to get charged. It was a vacant house and he chased him three blocks. It doesn't sounds like he was in any danger and doesn't sound like it was his property.

Now, ILMAO thinking of the story the perp told the ER doc. "well I am a sexual deviant and couldn't find a hot poker, so I tried to stick an arrow up my a$$."

Front page of the news paper down there is enough to install paranoia in anybody, home invasions etc.Our legal system is doing nothing to curb this bushiat.

If they press burglary charges on the guy with two arse holes I hope they leave Rambo alone.

I was at a friends the other day watching football, when a 1980's red S-10 pick up drove buy and shot the windows out of his pick up parked out on the road.We immediatly called 911 and reported a drive by shooting. An hour and a half later a lone female officer showed up and litteraly told us I do not know what to tell ya.Somebody shot your windows, what do you want me to say?She handed my partner an envelope with a case # and left almost laughing at us like we were stupid.

I check the 911 report in the paper the next day and this has been going on for weeks. It is not a wonder that people are not calling the police and taking the law into there own hands.

In defense of the Kitsap county sheriff.I think we are 2cnd in the state for the lowest officers per capita because of the economy. They were also in the middle of the statewide man hunt for that cop killing pig which I am sure was taxing their already low resources.

Bow ban? No way. 2nd Amendment applies.

Brewer,

Lung/heart shot is the target on big game. Burglars should be shot in the azz, then finished off after everyone has a chance to gather round and ridicule the idiot burglar.

Twitch,

I agree. That was a "good shoot" as they say. Guy should receive a public service award.

Hmm, maybe I'll move my .40 from my bedroom and just hang my bow on the wall with an arrow knocked already...

I can only imagine the gaping wound hole that broadhead left. Amazing what they do to animals...

Ouch! But falling does not equal shooting, not that the distinction mattered much to the hunter.
