Yes it does. If this guide is innocent and he can show that his business was affected by what was said here, he would have a case. It is called defamation, or libel and there are many cases of this involving postings on the Internet.

Whether a case can be made or not it simply isn't right or ethical to accuse someone without proof. So far no proof has been offered and everyone who is judging this guide without it is foolish.

That isn't proof. Proof would be a link to the State's site listing the infraction and name of the person. Proof would be these so called witnesses testifying they saw the act in a court of law. The posters here and on other boards are not vetted witnesses. The proof is still lacking.

This guy may be guilty, who knows, but we can't hang him based on unconfirmed board postings.

Imagine if this was one of us. Let's say we were on the river that day near that guide and we were falsely accused? Wouldn't you want folks like us on fishing boards like this to withhold judgement until the facts were in and real proof was offered?

I don't think killing the wild steelhead is a good thing, but neither are the nets that kill them everyday. It is easier to blame one guy for a dead wild fish than all the dead ones in a net. Not to mention the fact that nobody here has a clue what happened. Jumpimg on the guy is fine if you witnessed the act.

Pretty sure this happened, was at the Allen's ramp when the witnesses to the act received a call back from Officer Fairbanks (he had been called earlier) stating that it indeed was a wild fish and that he indeed was having a timeout with them at the Oxbow ramp.

This isn't forgetting to pop a barb or fishing before punching a fish ... it's flat poaching and he should be fried. All ethics regarding C&R aside, the rules plainly state that you may not keep a fish in that part of the river, so don't It's very rare that I have ever given someone a hard time on the water regarding letting these fish go or not, but I'll make a phone call in a heartbeat in this case. If you have to kill one, you have a place to do it ...

You seem to be suggesting that if one person is doing something wrong (like the Hoh netting or someone's supposed past infraction)then there's no reason to criticize someone else that does the wrong thing.
