Way ahead of ya, AM.

I have filed for a demonstration/protest permit with the city of Seattle.

I will be informing them of this later today, and see what their reply will be.

Thanks.

The date that I have requested is Staurday the 3rd of April ( more people around on weekends!)

I'll update the thread when I hear back from the city.

Holy heck yeas, I will be there if you get it. With a camera also if need be. Its a good try and I hate to be pessimistic but I doubt the City of Seattle is going to be fine with protesting the second most recognizable thing of their city though.

I didn't include that we were "targeting" anyone specifically.

Permit or not, it's going to happen.

If the City were to deny a permit based on the identity of the targeted entity or the content of the protest, it would have a bigger problem on its hands than a protest.

Darn. I was hoping it would be a work day so I could just pop on down for a bit.

Oh well, always nice to spend a Saturday at the market!

You're not getting paranoid that I'm going to steal a point away and go ahead 2-0 are you?

You've got another team mate in Todd to go along with you and the other three if you want.

Boater, SBD,and Freespool are pretty worthless when it comes to doing anything other than sitting behind a computer,
let alone hold a picket sign to help out your team.

Send your money to WSC. They might need money to drive circles around PPM.

They might need a experienced picketer also. I see that you might do that on your avatar.

The kind of bickering above is the exact reason why we've lost so many of the battles to save wild fish in this state. While the destructive forces all have single, clear mandates--more logging, more development, more mining, etc--we sport anglers spend huge amounts of time and energy fighting amongst ourselves. If we could channel even half the passion that goes into WSC vs. CCA or gear vs. fly or driftboat vs. sleds, I think we'd be on our way to making some real progress.

Instead of bashing each other, I propose we focus our energy on fighting the real issues that are impeding wild fish recovery.

In a larger view, I am continuously amazed at the power of united conservation efforts. In BC, in fact, two recent decisions of note (the ban on north coast fish farms and slowing down of Royal Dutch Shell's plans to extract coalbed methane from the Sacred Headwaters) were brought about by unified, grassroots groups made up of First Nations tribes, sport anglers, fish conservation groups and local businesses. Yes, I said tribes and sporties in the same group. I think if we're going to actually win some battles, ALL of the people who benefit from healthy wild fish runs are going to need to get together against the groups and corporations that don't give a crap about fish at all.

Sure that's a tall order. But it starts with us taking care of our own house, which is to say, we sport anglers need to get beyond small differences and start looking at the big picture. The future, should we fail to find common ground, is bleak indeed.

I will now step off the soap box and return you to your regularly scheduled programming. Sincere apologies if this rant ruffles some feathers--not my intention at all. Just makes me crazy to see how much wasted energy goes into internal bickering when the real enemies continue to destroy what's left of what we love. Thanks for your time.

Peace,

Skookum

i got it too....ill check for the april 4th protest....c

Thanks for your feedback, we're open to it for sure. Just out of curiosity, where do you get your information? I want to know just because we here do our best to sort through as much of it as we can. Whether it's talking to our distributors, reading periodicals, or reading online blogs, we want to know as much about what we sell as we can. It's important to us to listen to the concerns of our community (i.e. you!) and then decide who we want to be as a company on these type issues. Let us know when you can! ~scott and the guys at Pike Place

Excellent rant. I hope Todd and Fishprince pays attention to your concerns.

I was giving a example on what appears to be a WSC thread ,on how things goes sideways on other threads with these 2 and others.

Truthfully that was pretty tame and I agree lame, but these two don't get it that sportsmen need to pull together and work together for the well being of the resource.

On other threads this wouldn't stop here, but blow up into a full blown pissing match, and instead of staying with facts only,it even gets to name and organization bashing.

I'm hoping that they listen to you because they sure don't listen to me.

We don't like these attitudes and anti social behavior as well as you.

This is intended to be an educational example only.

Good Luck on this campaign like I said on 1st page of this thread.

BACK ON TOPIC.

Who has, or where can I find, the esapement data for the Quillayute, Quinault, and Hoh from the last couple years?

Also, would like to find the Snohomish and Skagit numbers, as well.

Let me know!

The WSC charts are in the process of being updated. The member that did the orinal charts has had some health issues the last 3 or 4 years and the WDFW employee that was extremely helpful in tracking down the useful data has retired.

JUST RECIEVED THIS>

Hi Tony,

I have received your email and will forward it to the owner. Please know that we don't buy any illegal or endangered steelhead. The Native Americans pretty much run the commercial steelhead industry in Washington and are highly regulated by the state. It is not illegal for them to catch and or sell wild fish. The fish are coming from rivers on the Olympic Peninsula, and if you check the link I sent you, you can see that the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife are not concerned with Steelhead populations in this area. Thanks for your concern. Anders @ Pike Place Fish
