Hi, I am looking for predator calling cassettes or CDs for free or cheap. The my son and the neighbor kid want to try to call predators this winter. They will be using my old JS caller (if the battery works) or trying to make a home made caller.
They want to call bobcat, raccoons, coyotes and cougar (good luck, better not get one before me..lol)

I have a couple rabbit distress tapes and some home made recordings of my calling, but I am looking for something like bobcats in heat, raccoons fighting, woodpecker distress, etc. Anything would be appreciated.

You can contact me here or at wbcnb at yahoo.com

Thanks

Riverswild,

The local predators will respond to a variety of sounds...but it is still tough to beat the old Jackrabbit call.

I was associated with the varmint calling business for about 20 years..and I have never heard of a "bobcat in heat" tape, but the old flicker woodpecker is a good one for bobcat.

I can tell you from experience that calling predators in the western part of Wa. is TOUGH to do...you might call them in, but getting them into visibility/shooting range is the key. they tend to sneak down gulleys, and all manner of stuff till the next thing you know that kitty is in your lap! eek

Also, black bear and cougar will readily come in to predator calls...they need to really be prepared for large predaots as well as small.

I am cleaning my garage (UGH!) today, and still have a box of old tapes and calls. I've sold off most of them over the years, but likely still have 50 or so (I made predaor calls for several years) and would be happy to donate a couple to the cause if I can find them.

Any particular critter they are after? Be glad to share what I know. Heck, I wouldn't mind getting out for a day of calling sometime if they need someone to do the calling for them.

Mike

Hi, thanks for the reply.
I have tried to get them to learn how to use calls, but kids do what kids do. I have called in many bears and coyotes/bobcats with my C3 Long Range, but they don't want to do it "Dad's way". What they really want is a FOXPRO, but I told them they could have my old JS M512 if they wanted to get tapes and new batteries. I am trying to encourage and monitor them from a distance.

They are wanting to get bobcats and raccoons. I hadn't heard of the "in heat" either, until my son showed it to me on the net. I am sure that they would love to have someone call for them. (Being Dad, I apparently don't count..lol)
