Has anyone else had problems with reel repair at Outdoor Emporium? I took my reel in a month ago. Now, I know it sometimes takes awhile to get parts, but I can't get the guy to return phone calls or emails to find out what's going on. Now, I am told he is out of the country. Just curious what others experience has been.

Ditto & +1 on Ollie Damon's for Rod, Reel, & Downrigger (Scotty & Cannon) repair. I send my reels down to Portland from the OP, they fix and service (and some times have them re-spool line), and they promptly mail them back, never a problem. And they have even fixed one of my Elec-Tra-Mate electrics. The best part is that you get to screw Generalissimo Prune Face Christine out of her cut.

Call Brewer. He's out of the stratosphere... but in the country.

Thats odd. I took a few in and he had them done in a few days. But, because he's new, still untested, so my one review can not determine the actual dependency and quality of someone's work. Thats too bad, I was hoping there'd be someone around Seattle who did it with quick turn around.

that guy is a crock of crap. my buddie took i think 5 or 6 reels to him last year. every single reel came back in worse condition then when they were sent.
my buddie asked for carbon drags in all reels and not a single one came back with carbon drags. the guy used "his style" drag which absolutely sucked. the only thing that guy did right was put new bearings in a curado like he said he would.
myself and my buddie have talked to this guy about the problems and he is a joke.
last year aswell i overheard a guy complaining to Tim about the "reel guy" not fixing a problem after sending the reel 3 times to the guy.
*edit* he also took alot longer then what he said it would take. and never gave a reason for the 2 week long delay. nor did he ever give a reason as to why he didnt replaced the parts like requested...but yet charged $10+ extra per reel for the repairs...

I've heard nothing but bad things from this repair guy that does outdoor's reel services... from late returns, to parts not available, to extra charges
I also repair all my own reels....but for finding parts, that for me to know and you won't find out...

Brewer did three reels for me. No complaints on my end. They came back in much better than they did before I sent them down.

Yes. It nearly took an act of God to get my reel back plus 3 or 4 months of time. If OE knows what's good for their business they will sever all ties with the unreliable moron fixing reels for them.
