go to the hardware store and pick up a package of terro. it's a liquid that you put on cardboard tabs wherever you find those things. they take it back to their nest and it kills them all off.

when i bought my house last september, it had been sitting for about 8 months, and when it started warming up, they started crawling out from under the sink. terro was the only thing that worked.

I had them in an apartment that I rented about two years ago. They're pretty tough to get rid of.

I ended up just calling an exterminator to kill the little buggers.

what do they look like? I have small ants outside all over my deck and gazeebo. Wonder if I should worry about them eating my house or not?

They're little black/brown ants. They won't eat your house, but they will eat whatever is in your house.

I used to follow the trails into my house and see what the were eating. Most of the time, it was just spot on the kitchen counter where earlier a beer or soda had sat.

What chum man said! I have used that Terro stuff a lot. The ant eat it, take it back and kill the colony! Works on all kinds of ants. It jsut needs to be protected by the rain.
Good luck

We had a outbreak a few weeks ago. We used some solid bait traps, and seemed to do the trick. Never could find where they were coming in at.

They came from my mailbox.

I just put the flag up, and presto!

I had several ants invaded my kitchen this winter. Spraying Black Flag around the outside of the garden window including the drain holes finally got them. Haven't seen any in over a month.

I've spent hundreds of dollars on over the counter ant killers and it seams like it's a never ending battle. Apparently my driveway was built on the colony HQ. My house was one of the first built in the subdivision. The little bastards swarm out of the expansion cuts in the concrete.

This year I went cheap with the advice of a friend. I bought a plastic sqeeze bottle from the craft store and filled it with diesel. About a pint size bottle. I ran down all the cracks and struck a match to it. Next time I'll do this at night after a couple of beers. It's a triple car driveway about 50' long. I have not seen ant one after 2 weeks.

napalm the fuvkers if you can, it works

terro works
it has boric acid that the worker ants take back to the nest
the queen ant gets to get some sorta like bee's do
and the queen dies from the boric acid
so now that the queen is dead, the worker ants keep on working but they only live a day or three so they will die out also and
voila
no more ants
till the next colony pops up

I have these also and don't know how to get rid of them. They don't come in the house or eat food. I think they eat the fungus that grows on decaying wood. So they might not eat your house but there might be a fungus eating your house and the ants eat the fungus. Anyone know for sure? Or how to get rid of them? I don't even know what they are called.

Guess I better go buy some too. I was in the new house basement the other day and noticed sand on the floor near the "daylight" wall. What the H? I used a bunch of sand fill under the basement slab, and these little ants must be carrying it up through the crack between the slab and the foundation. What are they doing here? There's nothing to eat but concrete, painted drywall, and framing. Very strange.
