What year are the bows? I looked up the Fred Bear recurves you listed and most of them are Circa 1967-1970 and are fiberglass. Are they wood or glass. Left or right handed? Have you killed any deer with them? Please let us know about the NIRK bow also. How are the arrow rests? Are they both one-piece recurves or are they break-down models? I am interested. Please answer questions. Thanks, BMF

Based on the ser# the Bear is about 1977?called "glass powered" but is wood.

Both are right handed, one-piece wood and in good condition. No strings.

All wood bear bows where discontinued in 1949. Bear did not make an all wood KH as the KH came out in 1959. . They are glass with wood cores like all bear bows. If the bear bow says Grayling on it it is pre 1978. If it says Gainsville on it it is post 1978. another way to help determine the age of your bow is to look for a medallion in the riser. Beginning in 1959, all Bear bows had a coin medallion of one type or another. The coin was copper in 1959, then changed to Aluminum in 1960-61, and Pewter in 1962. Brass coins were used in 1963-1970, and nickel-silver in 1971-72. The coins were all flush with the wood until 1972. Then in late 1972 it was raised above the surface of the bow. These raised medallions came in both gold and chrome covered plastic and are still used today.

The KH bows are good shooters

Nirk archery was located in Polatch Idaho and made some bows for a while. They are better known for accessories.
