The biggest problem here is the 30 second sound bite the commercials will be running, it's unbeatable, add the fact that they have very deep pockets and your chances of successfully convincing the non-fishing public is just about zero.
FYI it takes about 5 million to run a winning ballot measure campaign in the state of Oregon.

No, I was clear. Odd that you made the comment considering how you feel about Walt McGovern

This is a history of the fish wars. Interesting read and instructive, since we have already had a replay of one of their tricks.

Page 8 1948 initiative to ban several types of gear. passed.

Page 11 1957 statewide initiative to stop commercial fishing in Oregon with exception the CR and Tillamook. passed

Page 19 Steelhead initiative, year not given 1973? maybe

over the years ive been involved with various issues but anymore i dont say or do much, it`s obvious that i must be kinda old fashion and want better sportfishing and the restoring of fish runs but the new way is to ruin sportfishing and not restore anything so i figure if thats what you new-wave anglers want you can have it, i dont have to spend my fishing money in washington and i know a few of us are going to be quite happy saying we told you so, it`s actualy sad that you guys are so blind.

For you to make a blanket statement like that says so much, you are constantly asking people to back up what they say and when asked about your wins you come out with that, which means you have nothing concrete to point to or you would make sure we knew about it.

I believe the majority of us here would like to see an improvement with sportfishing, but as I have said before the state of washington is far bigger than the columbia river. If that step to get the gillnets out gets the gillnets out of the rest of washington then I am in. We sportsfishers has sacrificed far more than just your neck of the woods.

Now seems to be the time to finally get rid of these wasteful, indiscriminate killers once and for all!

Seems we will never agree on this but I will lose no sleep over it.

Doc said it best when he said "Getting fisher folks to agree on something is like herding cats"

Gill nets out of all Washington waters!

...and with that, Penny has decided it's enough. Time for this thread to slowly move down the lists of posts, only to be referenced during a search....
