+1 syko. The houndsmen I know and knew, love those creatures more than their wives. I think that was on the divorce paperwork under "cause".

Crawling into anything and going heads up with a lion or bear certainly is a hair-standing full on adrenaline deal. I've got respect for that guy who leads the way....

Growing up with a 1/2 dozen hound hunting friends who owned some of the top dogs in the PNW, I've had the chance to witness some pretty crazy [censored].... You learn to love them dogs as if they were your kids.

Nothing pisses you off more than watching a 300-400lb black bear backed up to a tree stump and anytime a dog get's close he pulls them in with his front paws underneath of him and starts snapping his jaws along the dogs back ripping flesh holes the size of cantelopes... In the meantime you have dogs coming off the top of the stump jumping onto the bears back getting batted/slung 15-20 feet by the bear... The adrenaline rush you get just watching the dogs do what they do at close range is enough to wipe your memory clean for that 3-5 minutes...

I watched a friend of mine take a bear out of a tree over hounds with a .44 mag and as the bear hit the ground, it was still alive and instantly charged up the hill and mowed my buddy over. When it was all said and done his calf was hanging near his ankle by skin and we had killed the bear while on top of my buddy..

Probably would have been a cooler story without the video. Reminds me of seeing all of the shots of the hippie with the Skeena fly-caught hog a couple years ago. The money shot of him holding the fish was, individually, a great photo but seeing all of the surrounding shots made me realize the piss poor quality of that whole event.

If you went down through the comments the whole story is there. It reads that a rancher called him in to take care of a problem cat. so all of this talk of sporting or not seems kind of mute. I think the point was to get rid of problem cat by whatever means neccessary. Again this is how I read the story and is my interpretation of how it went down.
