Former Sen. Ted Stevens may have been on board...

Damn, I just read the part of the story where he already survived a lear jet crash in Anchorage in 1978 that killed nearly everyone on the plane, including his wife.

Apparently Ted has passed away. RIP Ted. Anchorage station KTUU is reporting this.

Wow, Still have not found this on the web. Any other sources saying he did not make it. Sounded like there were some still alive.

They're all reporting that Stevens died in the crash, but it sounds like O'Keefe may have survived.

Fish on...

Damn, hoping to be in that area on a similar plane next year.

Despite what a lot of people think of Stevens, he seemed to be incredibly effective when it came to getting $ to AK.

Stevens was IMHO the most influential man in Alaska's history. I met him a couple of times. He could be charming and arrogant at the same time. RIP.

Been a string of these lately up here. Weather has been shite and people are itching to go fishing and get into the hills for recently opened hunting seasons. I was due to fly in a few days back but we have been sitting tight not wanting to follow in recent footsteps.

Until today we had a few still in the thick of it: http://www.adn.com/2010/08/11/1405574/guard-launches-new-attempt-to.html

Looks like they finally made it out this afternoon though.
