December 08, I bought my wife a ipod Touch.

So about a 3 weeks back the button became stuck, a friend of my wifes said take it to the apple store and they will fix it. I am typically sceptical of things such as this. But figured that at 5pm on a Friday we would just swing by the apple store and see what happened. (its an hour and a half from my place)

We walk in and the place is hopping, without out an appointment we had to wait 30 min. We utilized our time playing with all the new toys they have available.

Finally its our turn, guy walks up says what seems to be the problem.

My wife says " The button its depressed"

Apple man " Lets see if we can cheer it up"

Me big fuggun smile (Its the little things)

He comes back with the touch 5 min later, says its 286 days out of warrenty. So you have a couple options, we can ecycle it and give you 10% off anything in the store.

(Wife and I exchange looks)

I ask what the other option is , he says we can order you a new one and exchange this one for the new one.

(Its 286 days out of warrenty)

I have shared my story with a couple of other people, and it would seem that great customer servie is a way of life with Apple Inc.

Saying that good customer service is way of life with Apple is a controversial statement at best. I've heard they've been attempting to improve things over the last couple of months and adopt more of a "can do" attitude but I know a lot of people with bad stories. That said, it sounds like you had a great experience that worked out for everyone. I'd imagine they now have another very loyal customer. I've never had to deal with them first-hand but I know my iPhone is probably one of the best products I've ever owned.

Bought the woman a new iMac in March. She loves it and the customer service at the Bellevue Square store has been awesome. Always very helpful and great followup/follow through. When my PC is due to be killed, I will definitely be getting a new Mac. Very customer friendly. . ..

I would have to agree with you, in the past my experiences with "Mac Owners" has left me thinking they are a little brainwashed. When I shared my story with a Mac owner he listed all of the positives of being one.

The two that stuck out the most were, when you call with a problem you get someone in the US (this could be fact)
The other was if you have a problem, you can take it into the Apple store.

(I have a Vaio laptop wheres the sony store? ) I am not into tech stuff we happen to have several ipods was very pleased with the service. And that we didn't end up with a 300.00 paper weight.

What does one do with an Ipod? Am I missing out on something?

I knew there'd be a smart ass out there; thanks Todd!

So I have CDs and can play them on the home stereo, boombox, and in the car. Where does an Ipod fit into all this?

CD's? rofl I remember those.

Salmo, you take all of your CD's and rip them onto your computer. Now, you copy them onto your iPod. Then, you take your iPod wherever you want to listen to it. Put headphones in it, plug the "mini" output (the headphone jack) into an auxilary port in your car, boombox, or home stereo. Now, you have ALL of your CD's everywhere and it weighs nothing.

I haven't actually bought a CD in probably 4 years now. I do, however, pay for a Rhapsody subcription. For about $10 a month, I can listen to whatever I want as much as I want. I DON'T own any of the music so if I ever stop paying, I lose access to it but, for me, it is a perfect solution. Kind of like having a $10/month jukebox with me all the time that will play anything I want. It streams and/or downloads over my 3G or wireless connection.

Since one of my sosn works for Mircosoft, he gave me Zune. I listen to reggae and have downloaded about 50 hours of music from sites with mixes uploaded by djs and others for free. Some of the music is from online weekly programs. A lot of reggae music was put out on a limited number on 7" vinyl and is not available any longer as it was never put on cd. It's a good way to find music you may never hear otherwise regardless of what you like.

Own Mac. Always have. My brother worked for Apple for 15 years. Wouldn't own anything else.

Just one thing though:

Dont spill beer all over your MacBook.
