Jupiter is as close as it has been since 1951 and is positioned somehow in the BIG picture to make for some good star gazing. I was able to check it out last night and it was pretty cool. With enough power you can try to count its' moons.

It's the bright one hanging out over Mt Rainer. Then again if you live in Yakima that would be completely wrong direction. Just look to the East my sons

Clouds cleared here around ten. That sucker is a LONG ways away. One problem.....I swung the scope towards the moon and now I seem to be blind in my right eye

I could see Jupiter really clear with the naked eye last night. Thanks for the head's up. I didn't have a scope but I had an app for my phone that maps out the sky.

using the words uranus and pinprick in the same sentence just seems wrong

Now I'm contemplating suicide...especially after seeing Uranus.
