I am relatively new to the west side of the state and would like some info on good lakes around the Puget Sound where there is plenty of shore access to fish from. I don't have a boat and have not yet invested in a float-tube and waders and find the lakes around here very frustrating because access is usually limited to a single park with beach at fishing pier. I am a beginner fly fisher and would like to try out some casting, etc. in lakes without large cash investments.

I started casting at Lake ballinger,which is at the King snohomish county line. The park has ample room to cast from.

I would check out Green lake. If you hit it early in the morning before the joggers and walkers arrive you should have plenty of space to cast. But forget afternoons or evenings unless you go on the fishing dock.
