Not even close...... Nick and I pretty much got blown off the rivers. We managed a few out of very big, cold, cloudy and leafy rivers with Nick fairly well kicking my tail up and down the river, but due to the high water we spent a lot of time driving and learning the river, drifts, roads, and backup plans. I should have a few videos coming in the next day or two.... Bad luck for Nick and I this year, but I'll be back......soon. JD

with Nick fairly well kicking my tail up and down the river, That's something you should probably get used to. He's not an easy guy to out-fish.

Amen to that Dan. I have fished with Nick many times and seldom can keep up. On one occassion ,15 years ago, I actually caught more steelhead then he did. I would have forgotten it but he hasn't and brings it up now and then.

Hey Guys,
Ryan here from Squamish, great trip report and some amazing photos. I especially like the one with my man Coley and that monster buck, what a slab.
I ended up heading back to the Houston area for another week of great fishing, then moving West to the Copper river and its tribs, which were blown by rain by that time.
It was cool to meet and fish with you guys, an eye opening expeience for sure. I'm planning on heading back next year for another couple weeks, how could I not after that kind of fishing.
I hope you all have a great winter, and the the cold water brawlers are plentiful. Stay in touch as we approach the season again, we'll have to "hook up"!

Sorry the weather screwed you guys, JDarr...how was your Friday fishery after we saw you last, hopefully up above the muddy water?
Fish on...
Todd We pretty much got whipped by the weather until the very end. We messed around on the other river far away above the muddy river and hooked quite a few while dodging the spey pride crew and we walked from the bridge to the mouth twice on the other river with only 1 I pulled out of the last hole above the bigger river.....so ya. Pretty much fishing sucked. We did get 3 days on the main river, and did well the first day, ok the second day, and 2 the last day. That's when Mr. A got serious and started leaving little Oregon 20 kid in the dust. Although I did get manage to at least get action almost every day and 2 from the opposite side of the fly guys at the take out above out camp on my first 2 casts while Nick ran the shuttle. Just had to get him out of the way JD

No Oregon 20's, but I 36" hen that I swore was close and another buck that was a little bigger, but Nick didn't bother to measure it. Those fish should give anyone an excuse for over estimating their weight. Some of those suckers are THICK. JD

JD As we chatted about before, on one special river up there samples showed that the average 38" hen was an impressive 21.5 lbs. I think "PORTLY" would be a necessary adjective.
