Hit the Yak today. Things started out kind of slow, likely due to the 31 degree temp registering on my trucks dash display. The day ended up perfect, with the temps in the high 50's, sunny and no wind.

Saw a few different hatches today...October Caddis, smaller tan caddis, mahogany duns, light cahills and a few BWO's.
Ended up with a dozen or so fish to hand. Most the fish were in the 10-12" range, with a few bigger.

Got fish on orange stimulators, EH caddis, various colors of sparkle duns, lightning bug, copper john and the trusty beatle.

Who first ever said they don't make enough Octobers nailed it.
A few pics from today.

It was a perfect fall day today. Nice fish pics and report Stonefish. Sorry about all the pressure out there... (sarcasm) looks like you had the place to yourself!

Ryley,
You are correct, I did have the place to myself. I think everyone was either deer hunting or talking on the radio.... wink
Nice work by you and Todd by the way. I listened to the show on the way over the hill.

You have me inspired. I think i will hitthe Yak next week. I love frosty mornings, October Caddis and wood smoke in the air.

Stoner, I think you have this state dialed in more than anyone I know. Good plan executed once again! I'll need to get with you and another buddy soon to see if my grandmother's best friend's private lake (8 times the size of Marcel or so) has any trootskies in it. It is surrounded in old growth fir and hasn't been fished in many years! Oh yeah, it is near the salt water!!!! Drop me a PM. thumbs

Excellent pics...as much as I enjoy floating the Canyon, I prefer walking those areas far more...beautiful country.

Fish on...

Great report, SF.
We were on the Eastside as well, this weekend.
Dead calm, mid 30's and mid 60's....perfect.
70's predicted for this week.

Nice report. Too often, I get too wrapped up in trying to wrangle salmon this time of year, and I lose sight of the fact that fall brings some of the best trout fishing of the year. Thanks for the reminder!

Can we fish it through the winter? If so, can you give a few pointers?

Thanks!!

Rick,
Yes, you can fish the Yak through the winter. You'll find the BWO hatch fading as the month of November progresses and temps drop.
During the winter (Dec, Jan & Feb) midges will be the main hatch and only for a short period each day. You can also nymph as well as dredging up some fish on streamers.
If the trout aren't playing, the whitefish will be all over the nymphs.

Good Stuff!
As much as I am a hard-core winter steel metalhead I really like staying open to some fun, different, and exciting fishing.
Thank You!

Still orienting here in BeautifulDowntownPugetropolis.
